On the plus side, Howard is looking better every game. When he starts getting back into game shape, starts being quicker on his defensive rotations....watch out.

And you can bet the Lakers will lose to the clippers on Friday too.

Not sure on that, but it will be two teams with different motivations.

I could see Eric Bledsoe and Jamal Crawford doing well against the Laker 2nd unit.

It will be real interesting to see DeAndre and Fake (and Lamar) vs. the Laker front line.

Either Kobe is really out of shape or father time is catching up to him. He has no explosiveness or lift.

You do realize that he had a foot injury that caused him to miss the last few pre-season games, right? The dude is at about 80% or so we are led to believe.

0-3. No chance they beat the clippers without Nash.

Howard gets a ton of crap calls against him. Foul trouble is a concern.

Kobe: 40 points. Rest of Lakers starters: 37.

Dwight was in foul trouble all night. But the Lakers aren't going anywhere until Nash, Artest, Jamison pick it up

0-3 for the first time since 1978!

Good thing it's an 82 game season.

They're not even close to competing in these games. It goes from a 2 to 15 point lead like nothing

Plenty of room on the rockets bandwagon ladies.

Your Rockets are playing great basketball right now. They are one player away from competing for the 4 seed in the west,

I have complete confidence that my hometown Los Angeles Lakers will get it together. I suffered through the van Exel years. I can endure a couple months of sloppy play while this team gels.

Appreciate that boo boo. You're one of the few logical laker fans I've met. Kudos.

That clippers team is damn deep too

Jamal Crawford (50 points in 2 games) has outscored the Lakers bench by himself...in one fewer game (17, 15, 16).

Nash has a fracture in his leg. Kobe is in a boot. Howard obviously not in game shape.

This also will be part of the reason why the Lakers will look tons better in January

As soon as Nash gets his leg well, his back will start acting up.

Nash could apparently be out a month with this fracture. Yikes. So much for time to gel

Lakers styling all over the hapless Pistons tonight.

Good to see some defense and rebounding.

Laker bench players were -42 last night vs. Jazz.

Jazz bench players were +43.
(Blake was starting, but probably should start receiving death threats via twitter soon if he keeps shooting like that)

Lakers shot 28 more free throws.

you're laughing, but with nash out, dwight looking like he doesn't really give a ****, that AWFUL bench, and the depth of the west, the lakers not playing this summer isn't out of the realm of possibility.

1. Dwight has played 6 games total in 7 months coming off a very serious back surgery where he couldnt walk after it.

2. Dwight is averaging career highs in points, rebounds, blocks, assists, FG% and nearly rebounds so far this season.

3. Nash will be back this month.

4. The bench is entirely new players adjusting to a new system.

dwight is still stuck in pre-2012 lebron james mode. he doesn't have a single shred of killer instinct in him. he's just out there to have fun playing ball and talking ****. i don't have a problem with that, but it doesn't win championships.

if he had even a hint of fire/anger/whatever you want to call it in his game, than he would be absolutely unstoppable. the fact is, that's been his M.O. since day one.

there isn't a single player outside of a perfectly healthy bynum (lols at that EVER happening) who could stop that genetic freak.

also this. that bench could be together for the next 5 years and they would still suck.

Just something to keep an eye on:

Minutes played for the starters:

Kobe is 5th among SG: 37 mpg
Artest is 11th among SF:
Pau is 1st among PF:37.6 mpg
Howard is 3rd among C: 36 mpg

Jim Buss has had some interesting comments:

"I'm on top of it"
"this team was built to win now."

Mike Brown is on a very short leash.

Living in LA I see a lot of interviews with Mike Brown. He has a very Coach Fran like demeanor that is really starting to grate on me.

I didn't expect him to be Phil Jackson; there will never be another Phil. I do expect him to have his team ready to play.

We'll see what things look at at the end of November. If things don't look and feel different there's going to be some changes.

Saw some rumors floating about Jerry Sloan being the backup.

Would love this

Sloan is 70 years old. I can see him taking the job, but I'm not sure he's the best fit for us.

It probably won't happen, but I still want Brian Shaw. He would immediately command the locker room and the triangle offense is familiar to Kobe, Pau, MWP and Blake.

He could also teach Nash and Dwight to run the Shaw-Shaq Redemption.
