Hardcore Rockets fan here. After watching the Grizzlies from a distance for awhile now I don't really understand why they aren't one of the top teams in the West. It seems like to me y'all have all the right pieces to be that way. What's the main problem y'all have? Just curious, not trying to be an @$$

The Grizzlies are capable of being one of the top teams in the west. They are just often times way too inconsistent. They suffer mainly from a very weak bench. When your best bench players Quincy Pondexter, Mo Speights, and Wayne Ellington you are in for some problems.

Grizzlies win because they outwork a lot of teams in quarters 1-3, causing the other team to have a higher than normal turnover ratio, and generally take care of the ball (average as of late).

Not sure they have been outworking teams lately. They certainly haven't been taking care of the ball lately.


Another observation: They really struggle when teams put a workman 4 on ZBo. Knicks put Carmello on ZBo, no contest. But put Faried, Scola, Carl Landry, etc on him, he's not getting those 6-12 points off of put backs.


I also think at times they are too unselfish. Sometimes they try to make the extra pass instead of taking the ball to the hole; this is true of Gasol.

Also, Darrell Arthur missed another game because of concussion from the nuggets game.

Rough game for both teams tonight. Grizzlies were victorious though.

Ugly offense, but nice defense.

I believe the Grizzlies now have 21 straight games of holding the other team below 100 points.

Nice to see the bench do well and shoot 5-6 from 3 pt.

Another night another win. Dominating defensive performance tonight by the Grizzlies.

Went to the game. Found free parking on the street. Told I was on TV. Grizzlies win in spite of Rudy missing about 4 dunks. Grizzlie currently in first (in SW), although they have only played 23 games to SAS 27.

Rough end to the first half. Had two double digit leads and have let Dallas back into the game each time.

Traveling right now...how is OJ Mayo playing.

I guess I could mosey over to the Mavs thread, and see if anyone there is posting about it.

OJ is completely neutralized by TA. If you saw the Bucks game it was similar to what happened to Monta Ellis.

Another tough victory tonight. Dallas fought back time and time again without their best player playing. Good win though.

That Grizzlies team rolled out Pau, Mike Miller, Shane Battier, and Brian Cardinal...all of which have been part of the last 4 NBA champions.

Got beat pretty bad tonight. Rockets played well and deserved to win.

Rudy Gay out another tough loss.

Team lo0ked apathetic, and Rudy's DNP-Personal reasons is odd.

They didn't say family or at home, and there is a rumor that he is going to be traded.

Announcers said its a sprained (not torn) MCL so hoping he'll be back soon.

Haddadi provided a nice spark tonight off the bench when the Grizz needed it.

Couldn't watch the game last night. Sucks Pondexter got injured. Just glad the Grizzlies were finally able to overcome the Nuggets.

Quincy Pondexter will be sidelined indefinitely with a grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

No timetable has been set for his return. But Pondexter could miss up to a month because of the degree of the sprain.

Good performance tonight on the road at Boston. Boston had a chance to claw back in the middle of the 4th.
The Grizzlies stayed strong and got the win.

Not excited to see another reserve go down as Bayless only played those few minutes.

Josh Pastner doesn't want to play UTenn anymore and that he and the AD Tom Bowen are on the same page with this.

Now it is being reported that Bowen is negotiating (or finalized the deal, not sure) to continue the series.
