That's a pretty funny parody.

This offseason has been so uneventful. Usually the Spurs are at least good for an MLE addition.

There is nothing wrong with bringing back the exact same team, but it sure makes for a boring offseason.

There are still a couple of options, but it is looking like no major additions. I'd be more comfortable with that if Mills wasn't going to be out a big chunk (and who knows how his shot will respond to such a long layoff?). Having Joseph with some good experience sitting as a third string PG helps. I hope he's working his tail off with Chip this summer--- he need to be.

I'm not too concerned about Joseph. I think he will do a great job. If he or Tony have some injury trouble and go down it could leave us in a bad spot. We don't want to have to rely on Manu during the regular season for one and he might have his own issues injury wise as well.

Spurs finalized the deal with Boris Diaw today. San Antonio is officially the fastest growing city in Texas.

We need Kawhi to work on his passing abilities this off season. I have no doubt he'd avg 25+ if he consistently got 20 shots or more a game and we ran more plays for him, but the next piece of his game is being able to make others around him better. All the best small forwards are capable of doing that. If he can work on that some this off season, maybe it wouldn't be as bad if tony or joseph go down. Kawhi will eventually need to add that to his game anyway when he becomes the focal point of the offense once Tim and Manu hang it up.

I have a feeling either Tony or Manu are going down for a few months.

Lol who says that.

Anyway, Tony resting this summer should be nice. Not like he was great at any point this season anyway tbh. Manu missing time wouldn't be any type of surprise. There's always a 50/50 chance that happens.

Tony was pretty banged up in the postseason, and Manu rarely has two healthy seasons in a row these days. But I hope I'm wrong.

In any case I think they both play limited minutes until at least the All Star Break.

I'm hoping Tony's non-greatness was due to shifting offensive strategies and being injures pretty much the entire season and not age already setting in.

He was still the leading scorer last year. His DRtg was the worst on the team at 107 though.

Also, Belinelli played the second most minutes last year in the regular season. Weird fact.

Tony was playing fine until he tweaked his hammy (I think that's what it was) late in the season. Even in the playoffs, he played pretty well at times dealing with his ankle and other stuff...until the 2nd half of the WCF and all through the Finals where he wasn't much of a factor.

The summer off to rest and recuperate will do him well. He's still pretty young compared to Manu and Tim. Pop will still manage his minutes heavily, and he probably will miss half the back to backs. With that kind of workload and the summer off, he should still be up there as a top 3 PG in the league.

Pure age doesn't matter as much as miles.

Tony has 1136 NBA games under his belt, plus a ton of Euro games. That's a lot of miles on the clock. I expect his speed to start giving away in the next two years and his game will go with it since he doesn't really have a great three point shot and most of his game is predicated on his quickness.

I agree, but it's silly to pretend that age doesn't factor in at all.

Manu is the one to worry about. No telling when he's just going to shatter a bone in his extremities or spine and be done for his career. Pop deserves coach of the year if he can just get Manu into the playoffs next year as anything other than crippled.

What sucks for Pop is a #2 seed in the West at the very least, is what's expected of him if he has any shot at COTY.

Not that it really matters, he's got three of those.

Pop will clearly be heartbroken if he doesn't get COY again.

Spurs hire Messina for their bench. It's thought that he will be Pop's successor. Marks moves back to the front office where the Spurs supposedly have 'big plans' for him.

Love this hire. He's coached many of our guys including Manu, Belinelli and Splitter overseas.

How about Boozer for the full MLE? Would he clear waivers for the full MLE or will a higher bid come in?
Guitarsoup

You can't bid with the mle, only cap space.
West Texan

Boozer doesn't really excite me very much. Not a good defender and doesn't have the kind of passing ability or jump shot that would make him a natural fit in our system. He'd be nice as the 4th big, but he isn't gonna come here to be that far down the bench.

After Charlotte lost Josh McRoberts, I bet they put in a bid on the Amnesty Waivers to get him. They have like $6mm left under the cap.

Teams that can claim him off waivers are:

Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, LA Lakers, Milwaukee, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Utah

I just noticed something about that Pop gif. He walks over to hand the trophy to one of the assistant coaches and they all abruptly turn and head away from him.
