At what point were those awards given out? I'm guessing since they weren't in attendance they didn't even acknowledge them?

At this point I would like to see the Spurs try and get Shawn Marion. I wouldn't want to give him a multi year deal but if the spurs could get him on a one year deal or a two year deal with an out after year one than I wouldn't mind giving him the full MLE this year.

I think he would be a pretty perfect fit here to play be hind kawhi and at the small ball four spot. The Spurs could roll out some pretty scary defensive lineups with Green-Leonard-Marion manning the wings.

Other than that, there's nobody really out there that seems realistic. Obviously I would rather drop ayres and get another big but I'm not sure that's an option the spurs are even considering.

100% agree. To me, the Spurs need to go for broke this year and at least pick up anyone who could possibly help them more than Ayres / Daye. If Duncan and Manu retire after this year, the championship era in San Antonio is definitely over (especially since Parker will be even older by then).

I think Marion fits that bill (someone who can help more than Ayres / Daye), it's just a matter of how willing he is to take a very reduced role, and how willing is he to take only a 1 year deal.

Finley also did that a time or two before he helped the Spurs win a title.

Any word on Baynes? I guess its a good thing that he hasn't received any big offers yet. With 90% of decent free agents off the board, I hope the Spurs just bring him back and go forward with the exact same team.

Not much. He seems to be focusing on playing with the National Team. The Spurs have already said they would match any reasonable offer. I guess it's possible some team could still come in late and offer him a nice size contract but I doubt it. I think he will be back.


I assume Baynes would like to get this contract thing resolved though before he starts playing competitive basketball again this Summer though. Just for security reasons and peace of mind.

Not bad for 6 players, including two stars, a great defensive center, a lights out three point shooter and scrappy defender, and a swiss army knife PF. Especially when you consider all these teams trying to spend 60 million on three players.

Love it.

TP is a shoe-in for HOF, as are Duncan, Ginobili, and Pop.

Only question now is who else? Bowen? Kawhi?

Bowen is not close. Leonard is not close either, but he has a long career ahead of him.

Bowen is not likely I know, but Kawhi with a ship and finals mvp at 23? He's off to a pretty damn good start.
