I'm pretty happy the Mavs only gave DJ a 1 year deal. It looks like the Mavs will basically get a free agency do over next year. It has been interesting to notice just how many 1 year deals are going out right now. Even a lot of the 2 year deals have player options (i.e. Randle). That is very good news for the Mavs who could have nearly 50M in cap space next year. Then you have interesting guys like Capela, Exum and Parker who are getting low balled. These guys might take their qualifying offer and be unrestricted next year.

Capela is particularly interesting for the Mavs. If he were unrestricted this year then I have no doubt the Mavs would have offered him the 20M+ that he wants. I'm pretty sure Capela knows this as well. Hopefully Houston continues to low ball him and he takes the qualifying offer. Houston is in an interesting negotiating position. They have leverage but if they apply too much they run the risk of bringing back a disgruntled, underpaid player who will leave in a year.

There is definitely some free agency curve balls tied to the increasing cap space. A few years ago when the cap went up materially, all the elite guys were in that $22-28MM range. And players like Parsons, Mozgov, and Ryan Anderson were getting way too much money. Now, the elite guys are getting $35-40MM and the mid-level guys are having to feel out their actual worth.

$20m is going to be the new $10m. I mean when KCP is getting $12m....that's when you know things are about to get pricey.

No doubt, and we would've signed Parsons to that god-awful deal he's on. And it's not like if the Mavs had landed Jordan 3 years ago that they would've done anything in the playoffs anyway.

Regardless, apologizing for what happened would go a long way to easing a lot of hard feelings around here

He has actually proven to be an elite performer in multiple aspects of the game at the NBA level.

Yeah, just his presence in the paint is a deterrent, and for Dallas all he needs to do is hawk the rim on both ends of the court. He's a perfect fit for the system.

He's in the mold of Tyson Chandler, but Chandler was more of a perfect fit for Dirk and Kidd, versus generally for Carlisle's system. Also, Chandler bought a mental and physicality component the Mavs needed. Jordan brings neither of those things. He is just a cog in those LAC teams that bought into their own LOB City-hype and thought themselves better than they actually were.

Their defense sucks. Their rebounding really sucks. He adds a ton of help in both areas. And with some young guys in the floor, having a defensive presence behind them is big. It will help keep them on the floor.

Yea the only bad thing about DJ is his age. If he was 24, he'd be the perfect fit for the Mavs.

The summer league product is terrible. I don't know how some people can watch it.

Yea age is the main problem. And I don't think you can win paying a non shooting center big money in today's nba. But that's debatable. It's like my opinion man.

I think high dollar centers can make you win more regular season games but don't think you can win it all with them.

I kinda wish dirk would retire. I'll always be grateful that he brought the first championship to the team, but I think they've always used dirk as an excuse to put off a rebuild.

Tanking and getting another top 5 pick to go with smith and doncic would've been awesome.
