Lost 79-78 without Lonnie. Weatherspoon has another really good game: 19 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, and was by far our best player tonight. When he was off the floor the team really struggled to get good looks on offense.
Luka had his most complete game by a long shot. 11 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and made some terrific moves with the balk (see above). After getting bullied and abused last game where he had to play the 5, he got out there and competed and attacked the ball going for rebounds. He needs that kind of intensity going for boards all the time, but he was sooo much better in that regard. He had 5 turnovers, but most of those come from he makes a move and he's not strong enough yet to fight through the ball being swiped away. Bulk him up and he turns those turnovers into points. He also showed off some real play making ability seeing the floor. Made some very nice passes and found open guys off the attack. It's fun watching him get the rebound then push the ball himself. +/- isn't the best indicator all the time, but he led the team with a +18 when he was on the court.
Keldon really struggled tonight. Didn't shoot the balk well at all and wasn't able to attack and get into the paint like he had in previous games. He still did some nice things on defense, but the inconsistency on offense isn't too surprising for a 19 year old. 7 points on 3/9 shooting, 0/2 from 3, only 2 rebounds.
Tonight's game was weird. When The Spurs starting 5 was out there (Eubanks, Samanic, Johnson, Weatherspoon, Magette) they could compete and even get a lead. When anyone came off the bench, or entire bench units were out there, they got killed. For all their youth and inconsistency, the 3 rookies make the team go (when Lonnie doesn't play).
