It pisses me off we got one great super star year out of Kawhi. Hes a freaking beast, the Spurs played a large role in making him and get chit for it.

Yeah I'm pretty. I will take joy in watching him kill the Lakers but generally I'll be hoping for an injury. Dude screwed the team that believed in him when many didnt.

Sorry, what? You're hoping for an injury? Gtfo with that crap.

Spurs would be the heavy favorites in the west this year if they still had Kawhi. We would have had the same young core, minus the kids from the most recent draft who won't play this year anyways. But it doesn't matter anymore.

Yes. He should lose another year since he stole one. Fair is fair. Honor your contract and you're good.

Is it too early for a must win game?!

I feel the West is going to be a dog fight again. Every game at home where you are favored are MUST WINS. I'm thinking the last few playoff spots are going to be determined by who takes care of business against Eastern conference teams.

How much is ESPN paying you for these kinds of hot takes? Truly insightful, friend.

Yea. It seems like every game against a bottom feeder team is a must win for us. I just want to take it to Marcus Morris.

Marcus Morris takes it to himself most games. Dude has something wrong in his brain.

I agree that ESPN should be paying me. Unfortunately they are not. Free insight for all!

Spurs fully guarantee LMA's Salary for next season ($24 million) which means we have him locked up through 20/21. For an all star that's not a bad contract. I'm good with this.

Flipping back and forth between the Spurs and Astros, but the Knicks have Morris, Taj Gibson, and Julius Randle all on the floor at the same time. I don't foresee the spacing of that lineup working out for them long term.

DJ has taken the next step.
Forbes has turned into a pro.
Lonnie Walker is getting 0 playing time as expected.
White still has no confidence.
DeRozan looks like he should be playing in BIG3.

What do you know? Aldridge and DeRozan with the worst +/- on the team with -13. It's not rocket science. They shouldn't play together.

21 turnovers and still win with a big 4th quarter. Murray was a beast all night.

Shoulda watched the Spurs... the turnovers are concerning. I know it's early and we're still trying to gel, but 21 is ridiculous.

A large number were either bobbled passes or over passing. Hopefully that is just rust and lack of rythm.

Like the other poster said, a lot was over passing. I expect that to smooth out fairly soon

1. Dejounte looks really good. It's one game and the Knicks backcourt isn't good. But I'm so thrilled this guy is locked up for 4 years and healthy. He looks like his first step has improved. His rim finishing looked good. Close to a triple double. And he swished a timely 3. So effing hyped right now.

2. Rudy is one of my favorite Spurs ever. Love watching his game.

3. Bryn is seriously good. Not just for an undrafted guy. But as someone we need to pay and keep around. Obviously within reason but every time Bryn shoots, it feels like it's falling.

4. There are some issues right now with DJ, DD, and LA all on the floor. DeMar was passive until the 4th. That needs to get better but I'm confident it will.

5. I think I like Lyles starting. I know he's not doing anything spectacularly right now, but he's more mobile and versatile than Jakob and he isn't a rotating door defensively.

6. White wasn't great but i thought he was a little better than he's been. That 2nd unit has the opportunity to be SCARY if he gets back to his form from last year. I also would like to see Pop stagger Beli DeMar some on each unit - let DD with the ball movement 2nd group and have Beli help floor space the starters.

Finally, y'all, this team could be really good. I know the west is stacked. But we have some talent that if they continue to mesh and progress, could create some noise. We aren't winning it all this year most likely, but I like where this team seems to be going, even if we don't make it out of the crazy west this season. I have faith we will. But i know it won't be easy. And it was just the Knicks tonight.

Oh, and Jakob was awesome. I'm going to choose to believe that Timmy D is molding him because he had some moments tonight that reminded me of Tim anchoring the middle.

Fizdale didn't shake Pop's hand after the game. Probably was told from ownership not to. That organization is so effed up. We still beat his team of power forwards despite 21 turnovers. Take that for data!

Need to package DDR up with whoever/whatever and ship him out. Or put him on the second unit and give Walker the start.

Him and LA just don't work together.

I missed the fourth quarter, but DeRozan was terrible through 3. Hopefully that gets figured out, because if he can't find a way to contribute against the Knicks....

The fact that Marco is getting minutes ahead of Walker is egregious. Marco is a corpse on defense especially in transition. In addition to the turnovers last night, our defense was pretty bad.

The typical 3rd quarter collapse, which has been a mainstay in the Pop era, but glad Los Spurs started the season with a W. Currently on pace to go 82-0.

He had a good 4th. Finally started to assert himself offensively. Got to the line. Key guy in our 4th quarter run.

I'm hoping Walker is the guy who steps in for whoever is resting on a given night so that he gets to play pretty solid minutes in a number of roles... good for his development and good for figuring out where he fits best.

It's not even surprising to me. Pop's always been a 'culture/korporate knowledge' guy, over youth.

It's ridiculous at this point that Marco is taking minutes like this though. Marco should be someone you put in and if he hits his first couple of shots you keep him in. If not, he gets pulled right away. Because he's a turnstyle defensively and if he's not putting the ball in the hoop at the offensive end, he's not doing jack to help.

But Pop would rather soap box about Trump these days than take a hard look at what's left of the old guard and what they contribute.

Yeah that makes sense. Pop is thinking about Trump and that's why he's playing Beli.

The reality is we dont know anything. We arent at practice. We arent in the locker room. We arent in the coaches meetings. Maybe Pop feels Beli and Walker are equal defensively right now and Beli is a more reliable offensive player. It's hard to argue against that. Pop has played young guys plenty over the years.

I love the potential at both ends for Walker. I thought he looked good in the preseason minutes he got. I think that both Forbes and Lyles have been surprises and its shaken up what we thought the rotation might be. It will be interesting to see this all unfolds.

The guy has 1000+ wins and 5 big ol' rings but he has no idea what he's doing.

Read that out loud to yourself. Do you not see how stupid of a take that was?

This is a bad, lazy take.

Marco demands defenders to stay close to him along the perimeter. He moves constantly off the ball on offense, and does so very well. By being Marco, he creates much needed space for others to operate.

Does that make him a net positive when he's not hitting? No. But the spacing is likely better right now with Marco on the floor than Lonnie, because Lonnie is another mid range guy. Lonnie is important to our future, absolutely, and I expect he will get some minutes and potentially relegate Marco to the bench/spot up minutes by season's end, but Marco has a purpose right now that Lonnie can't fulfill.

Yeah I dont know how anyone watches Beli and immediately determines he stinks. The guy is a rediculous shooter. Everyone knows he isnt a good defender. Including Pop.
