So the Spurs make the cut for Orlando. Currently four games back of Memphis but only need to maintain that to make the play-in game(s) for the 8th seed. Going to be interesting for sure.

I'm torn on this whole situation for the Spurs. On one hand, I'm super pumped because I've missed sports (specifically basketball) and the die hard Spurs fan in me wants us to win and keep the playoff streak Alice. On the other hand, I had plenty of time to come to grips with this season being over for us and having a lottery pick for the first time since 97.

As far as what I'm looking for in the games, is how the lineups are handled. We're playing 8 games for the possibility of a first round exit, so now is the time to give a lot of meaningful minutes to guys like Lonnie and even Keldon that ultimately won't hurt your team even if they suck it up. If Forbes continues to get the third most minutes I'm going to be pissed.

That would be hilarious if the Spurs made the playoffs.

The Spurs have had the Jazz number this year, and they lost Bogdanovic for the rest of the season due to wrist surgery. Not to mention whatever sort of animosity the team might have towards Gobert.

I think they would also have to get to at least 9th place. I think it is just a 2 team play-in tournament with #8 & #9.

From what I understand, the 9th place team has to be within 4 games of the 8 seed for the play in "tournament". The play in between the two seeds, the 8 seed would have to lose twice to be eliminated and the 9 seed would have to lose once to be eliminated. So basically, it would be up to two games between the 8 and 9 seed.

The Spurs are currently 4 games back from 8 and .5 from 9.

Well the bottom 8 teams arent even going to Orlando. So yeah everyone is playing the better 2/3 of the league.

Yes, but we have a better record against those teams than the other teams competing for the last playoff spot.

This may be a better situation for the Spurs playoff hopes than if the season had played out like normal. (If you want the Spurs to make the playoffs).

Maybe I'm making too big a thing about this, but wouldn't this be a massive slap in the face to Becky if they let Tim run the show?

The Spurs chances of making the playoffs aren't great, so if Pop isn't allowed to coach, give her a shot. She's put in the time, she's earned it. I love Timmy, but I just wouldn't understand the move if he gets the nod.

Timmy got the nod earlier this season when Pop missed. I don't care who coaches, I just want more Derrick, Lonnie, Dejounte, and Keldon and less Forbes and Patty.

Kind of a meaningless, random game.

Letting Becky legitimately coach against teams that are actively fighting for their playoff lives is completely different.

My understanding is that the bench coaches rotate scouting and leading prep for each night's opponent, and that can bear on who steps in if the head coach has to miss a game. Could be wrong but I definitely read it somewhere. Probably PtR.

I guess without someone like Coach Bud on the bench as a clear cut second in command, he's letting everyone flex their coaching muscles a bit.

My theory was they wanted to make a bigger deal out of Becky's first game as HC.

The word courage is overused...but Walker shows a lot of courage by going public with his story. His experience is heartbreaking; but hopefully he can be a role model for kids trying to survive the same experience.

Per Woj, Will Hardy given permission to interview for Knicks job. Rumors of Hammon also being considered. Udoka will be interviewed as well. The Pop tree continues to add more branches.

If only to watch him and Popovich get into a physical altercation. Season is lost, it doesn't matter who we sign.

It's going to be a rough next couple of years but we have to take our medicine, rebuild and get better. It is really the only way.

The Spurs really missed on the Leonard trade. Like really badly. There were red flags all over DeRozan. Spurs could have gotten Ingram+, Clippers pics, etc. Instead they lost their best perimeter defenders and presently have one of the ugliest offenses with one of the worst defenses in the league. With Poelt'ls ceiling, KJ might be the best thing to come out of that trade because hopefully, DeMar is all but gone.

Edit: Spurs should also get whatever they can for LMA's expiring contract. There has got to be some sort of a market for him.
