Can't be suspended in the playoffs or the last game of the regular season from technical fouls
Plus everything resets once the postseason starts.

I heard somewhere that after you get suspended for a tech, penalties increase with each additional tech.

Techs reset in the playoffs, and the limit is 7. At this point the techs aren't a concern. He gets one, he gets a game of rest and can't be suspended again for the regular season for a generic technical.
Sounds like KP is coming back tomorrow against New Orleans. There has been a lot of talk about KP but it is mostly focused on his offense. To me whether he is worth the max money is all about his ability to protect the rim. In his career he has averaged over 2 blocks per game until this season. His advanced defensive stats were always good and opponents shot poorly around the rim against him. All of that has changed this season. Blocks are down, defensive stats are down and opponents aren't bothered by KP around them rim.
Eye test only but early in the season he was moving pretty slow. Maybe not surprising since he was dropped into the middle of the season with no training camp and coming off surgery. He seemed to be more active and helping off his man around March but then regressed in April. I don't know if it is injury robbing him of athleticism or if he just isn't diagnosing plays since he can't stay on the court. Maybe he doesn't trust his body and is shying away from the contact. Whatever the case is, the Mavs need KP to protect the rim like he used to in order to raise the ceiling of the team.

My only issue is that bolded part b/c that's been KP's excuse almost EVERY year of his career. The man needs to prove he can be available to play before he starts talking about his role on the court.jeffdjohnson said:

I just hate that the Mavs gave this guy a max contract with 0 injury provisions. If he's healthy for the entire playoffs, i'd be shocked.

They have to win 2 or the Lakers have to lose two or one win by the Mavs and one loss by the Lakers. If they don't get out of the play in then it's definitely well deserved.

I agree with this actually. I think the clippers are ( once again) the worst possible first round matchup for the mavs. Heck, I'd rather play Utah and Phoenix because they aren't battle tested in the playoffs. The thuggets are still playing well despite missing several really good players for the year, but they should be vulnerable in the playoffs.PascalsWager said:

Yeah I want no part of Devin Booker. And I have a bad feeling the Mavs would let Chris Paul turn back the clock.
We could never beat the suns even before they were good (they were 3-1 against us last year). And they've swept us this year. They are good and think they are a bad matchup for us.

It feels like this team has played to it's competition all year, which I think is a trait of being a young team. Consequently, I'd rather not see them face a worse team in a one-game play-in.
The playoffs are enough of a grind without having to play 1-2 games with everything on the line before they even start
