When he got that eight second call, I felt pretty strongly we would win. But it does bring back a little frustration with the game the other night. When we played that micro ball, Carter should've been the five. Can't remember who we had out there, but he should've been at least playing in the post where there is a little bit of threat of shot blocking instead of what we had.

I think most people (including me) weren't excited about Dillingham, but were a bit puzzled that we didn't take a shot on Matas Buzelis, Kelel Ware, Devin Carter. We even could have traded down and come away with Tyson or George.

All that said, the series of moves since then has rendered that conversation pointless.

And I think Minn is going to have a tough time convincing Ant that they are still getting better as a team and can contend for the title. Spurs have passed them. OKC is way past them. Boston, NYK, Detroit are all past them. Randle and Gobert are old. They have the 28th pick this year, no pick next year, their own pick in 28, no pick in 29, have to swap with us in 30.

Also, me and Soup talked earlier in the year about how Carr would be a great fit as the eventual replacement for Devin once Wemby and Castle extensions become realities.

The most amazing thing is how Harper makes everything look easy and smooth. He almost never gets sped up and he finishes in traffic at the rim at an abnormally high rate.

In a full time role, he'd already be a 20/5/5 guy as a rookie. If we allow ourselves to project what peak Harper could be, then it's easy to see something like 25/8/8 as his floor on hopefully similar efficiency. He's so good that he's going to force the Spurs to think about what to do with DeAaron as early as this off-season because I think you want to let this kid run the offense starting now and make sure we maximize his development as the primary creator on this team.

Because of the lack of cap space around the league, if I was the Spurs I'd at least be exploring Fox trades sooner than later because it's gotten much harder to move max guys for any sort of real return. I liked Guitar's hypothetical DeAaron for Franz suggestion. Fox to Miami for Wiggins and salary? Fox to Brooklyn for MPJ? Fox to GS for Porzingis and picks?

Really anything to make sure the path is clear for Harper to be the guy moving forward. The breakup could be awkward though since we know DeAaron specifically wanted to come to San Antonio.
