Yeah, I understand having Wemby out there on Brunson but man, I feel like you have to trust Castle out there on an island and let Wemby hang back to play free safety on defense and muck up whatever other action there may be going on.

Especially if you're going to double off the inbounder (which I'm not even sure they were supposed to? May have just been a bonehead decision by Fox), then you definitely don't need Wemby +1.

The loss is inconceivable in either a sober or impaired state of mind. It is an historically ugly scar on the face of the franchise. It reminded me of the the Houston Oilers' loss in1993, when they led the Buffalo Bills 35-3 in a playoff game but ultimately lost 41-38, marking the largest comeback in NFL history. The loss became a forever story about catastrophic athletic failure.

As detailed in this thread, it was an egregiously bad playing and coaching performance. Only winning out can mitigate the intensity of the humiliation earned last night on one of the grandest stages in professional sports.

I say this knowing it is absolutely the most likely outcome…

Only if we lose the series. Difference between this and your other examples is this wasn't THE losing moment. Those are all 1 game and you are in or out. We still have a small amount of life left

I read Harper did not shoot a shot in the final 10 minutes. How does this happen?

Because Coach Klutch Sports was determined to run his offense through the Klutch Sports PG yet again.

I get how they can miss that Caruso or Brunson came down before passing but getting this wrong is incomprehensible

Yep. He didn't look out to me in real time and I don't recall them showing any replays at all.

Total BS.

Yeah, he was kind of in no-man's land there, but still - get the call right.

I get the idea in theory - but Brunson has shown time and time again he can get his shot off against Wemby (and anyone else). It's amazing how easily he gets looks, even when guarded by Wemby.

It feels like a waste to do that if your expectation is that he prevents the shot.

100% hindsight by me and perhaps Brunson makes the initial shot if it isn't Wemby out there, but it does seem like the Knicks are more comfortable getting a shot off with him guarding than they would likely be fighting him for a rebound.

Again, this is the youngest team ever in any sport to be playing for a ring. For perspective, SA is the youngest team by adjusted minutes to make it to the Finals by over two full years and if they won would be the youngest by nearly 4.

He's effectively coaching college players in the NBA Finals

So what? Ask Tony Parker about being 19 and winning.

Tony was 20 and was benched for massive parts of that run for Speedy Claxton because he made so many mistakes. Harper is already better than Tony was until Tony's 4th or 5th year. Harper is a better defender right now than Tony was at any point in his career.

Tony had to face off against Shaq, Kobe, Dirk, and many other legends.

It doesn't matter. Fortitude and coaching.

Who the hell is this guy sprinting down the baseline? Is that Brunson dad that everyone talks about?

I think it was a fan that got up. If it's the one I'm thinking of he was pretty demonstrative multiple times.

Yes, I saw him multiple times in the game running into the painted baseline area. I don't know how he isn't kicked out

NBA confirmed today that Castle was not out of bounds and the referees blew a crucial call with just 1 minute left in a 1-pt game.

Referees at the college and nfl level should have to hold press conferences. Also they should have to explain with pictures why they made a call and justify it.

Did they say anything about the block on Fox? I also was too upset to watch the last replay but something funky was going on with Steph under the basket, not that I expect that called there.

Also, that's again on Mitch. With one minute left, use your last challenge.

They said that OG dislodged it so it wasn't a foul. I think that is bull*****

Clearly not dislodged.

I think they just do not want to admit a mistake on a call that if changed, makes it an automatic win for us. PR more than anything. OG didn't dislodge it when he grazed it, he made body contact and arm contact, and that is what caused the miss.

They inbounded it almost immediately. I doubt many teams burn their last time out on that with 1 minute left when there was only 4s left in the shot clock. Especially since the Spurs sideline guys didnt have a chance to review it first and even the video used by the NBA in the 2MR wasn't conclusive. Who knows what other video is out there.

I don't think any team reviews that under those circumstances. The ref was right ****ing there. That is not the type of call they usually get wrong. Like I said before, the Brunson or Caruso throwing it right after they touch down is so bang bang, that will often be wrong, but this was just him driving the sideline.

Harper should have had the official move the fans out of the way, too. But you can see KAT instructing them to crowd Harper.

There were tons of missed calls late game that would have padded our shrinking lead more. If we just had a better game plan other than shoot threes quickly, it would have been a non-factor.

I really hope we win the next two and put it all on game 7 because I know this team is capable if we just clean up the stupid mistakes.

Sure, but the refs missing 2 maybe 3 calls in the last one minute of a 1-point game and every single call benefitted one team makes a significantly more massive difference than say when they missed that KAT's foot was on the line when he shot a three mid-way through the 3rd quarter. That hurts as obviously there is a 1-point game and the Knicks were awarded a fraudulent point, but we had time to overcome it. We did not have time to overcome the OG Foul.

All of this is window dressing on a 30 point half. 76 followed by 30. Just shocking.

DGAS about missed calls by the refs. It should have never gotten to the point where it mattered when we had a 29 point lead.

If we can win game 5 convincingly I'll believe we have a chance. But I won't watch another game h til a possible game 7. I so t wanna watch the Knicks win it in 5 and I don't wanna watch them win it on their home court

Yes, but that isn't a scenario you use that timeout. We used that timeout to advance the ball with 1.2s left after the OG bucket.

Wemby is now one flagrant away from an automatic suspension. I can hardly watch the games now due to how he is being officiated. Every single one of his flagrant fouls is a result of him being held, tackled, etc. and he is just trying to free himself from the holds. People say this is physical like the 80s...I don't remember being able to hold arms / jerseys with your closed hand. I remember hand checks and pushing with your body, but not this handsy grabbing stuff. Hell, he was form tackled the other night with no flagrant.

The Spurs need to have discussions with the league about moving forward and protecting him. Part of me says wait for the perfect moment when he is getting mauled and get that flagrant and make the league suspend him. Then make that the storyline and take all the videos surrounding all of his flagrants and that's the opening video montage with your meeting with the league. They have to do something to change this - I believe there are multiple future championships on the line. We are down 3-1 - maybe go ahead and make that play for next year. I dunno - very frustrated watching it.

The frustrating part about the last one is that type of incident is going to be incredibly common for wemby. He is so tall that his elbows are near head height on tons of players. Natural movements are going to end in accidental contact above the neck.
