Considering how young this team is and how bad the coach is, I say this season was a success.

Defend Mitch if you want but that's the worst coached finals of all time. Not the worst coached series even of this month, but the worst coached finals of all time.

Sure. But when you dominate 75% of the game and piss down your leg in the 4th that's mental.

Can we find a backup for Wemby that isn't a slow, no talent white dude?

You're going to be very disappointed in the Spurs offseason.

And the seasons following while we waste Wemby years.

This is tough because we both over-performed and underperformed. The Knicks were a lot more fresh after breezing through the East, and their veteran players made their plays.

I'm not too worried about Wemby, Castle or Harper. This was a good learning experience for them. I also think our front office will find Wemby some help underneath. But I'm very concerned about our coaching.

Maybe unpopular opinion but it's hard to not like Brunson. Went to our bench first before celebrating with his team. No one on the Knicks I really hate.

This was an incredible run by the spurs. Hopefully they come back next season with a lot of fire. It's going to be hard to get back here if the west is healthier. But we can do it. And hopefully we grow in between. Wemby has a lot of work to do. And so does the staff.

Selling low is not something the Spurs are going to do. We will keep the main core, add some actual power forwards and run it back.

OKC is going to have to make major moves.

The Knicks are 3.5M from the 1st apron with 9 players. Shamet, Robinson, Hukporti, and Clarkson don't have contracts.

Hope someone takes the leap shooting. Winning is going to be tough when we don't have an actual elite shooter.

Which is a huge part of winning and being great. Spurs will learn from this experience because learning comes from failure. There's a lot to be said for learning how to win, which isn't always about being more talented.

What sucks is they aren't the better team.

They are the better TEAM.

Best player in Brunson, better coach, don't have Mitch or Fox.

NY had slugs that did not perform as well. Coaching was 50%, at least. Players stepping up (Brunson) vs players not stepping up (Fox) was the other 40%. Inexperience factored in and fading in the home stretch of games (10%). Spurs have a good future.

Fox can put up all NBA numbers all next regular season and it still won't change the perception of him. Just an absolute choke job. I've always been a huge fan of his but there's no defending this

Nah, I'm like you. I like Brunson. Guy is a legit baller. Love Bridges and OG. KAT is fun to clown, but I've never seen anything that would make me think he's a bad dude. This Knicks team is significantly more likable than anyone from New York.

I just don't think it's going to get better unless we change how we run the offense with him to try to get him back to what he was.

I don't know how you keep Harper off the floor next season. Are we going to pay this much for a bench player? Who are you going to sit? Champ?

If they added DDV, who won't play, they still need to add like 5M to the trade for the salaries to work after July 1.

They want to dump Randle, who I would never want.

Better 4th quarter team won. Spurs control most of the game 75% and crumble in the 4th

By definition, that means the Knicks are the better team. The games last 4 quarters, not 3.

We have 96 guard minutes and I think the three guards will all play 28-30 minutes with Devin getting the rest.

Julian and Keldon are absolutely losing minutes next year.

You do know he gets credit for coaching us into the lead in every 4th quarter as well?

Mitch has some growing up to do as a coach if he's going to be a long term answer, but it's pretty silly to exaggerate quite this much. We watched Fox shoot 3 for 15 and Castle go 1 for 10. The stage was too big for most of our guys. They shrink in the 4th quarter and couldn't match the intensity they started each game with. Yeah sure the coach can impact some of this, but you count on players to make the plays they are paid to make. Even Wemby has to figure out what he is offensively. He's clearly not the kind of player you can just give the ball to and say "score." Brunson is and that was really the main difference down the stretch of these games.

Yeah, this Knicks team is easy to like when you aren't playing them. Congratulations to them for pulling off the big one.

Tough series. I thought who ever won between the OKC and SA would win easily in 5 against NY - not the other way around.

Up 9 with 8:50 left, at home, I thought Spurs were gonna slowly pull away, but NY just hung around and started outplaying SA.

Maybe the Spurs never really got their energy back after going 7 against OK? Late in the 4th, the legs weren't there.

Harper gets points and Castle doesn't in game 5.

Will SA be better next year? So many factors have to fall right just to get to the championship like they did this year.

Gotta tip your hat to NY, they nutted up in the 4th quarters, and took the lead and won.

Definitely the better team.

I dunno, I might bite the bullet and take Randle to get out of the Fox contract and just stash Randle on the bench. It'd at least give us legitimate size to help out Wemby, even if Randle is a losing player who gives up when he's upset. Maybe even try to flip him.
