Spurs didn't waive either Waters or Biyumbo so both contracts are fully guaranteed now.

Spurs are about 5.5M under the tax line, and unless some ridiculous deal comes about, I doubt we go over tax this year.

Rui and Reaves are out, too.

So:

Ayton
Vanderbilt
LaRavia
Smart
Luka

Bench is Jaxson Hayes, Nick Smith, Knecht and Bronny?

Highlight of the game, other than Sochan being back.

When Wemby kicked the balls in the net, his other foot was still on the ground.

Alright it is happening. Worst defender in the NBA being traded for two bad defenders.

I honestly don't know if this makes the hawks worse or better

Yeah, who knows with them. I love CJ a lot, but he's a traffic cone and Kispert isn't much better. It improves Atlanta's 3pt shooting, but they were already top 5.

I think the Hawks are still going to make the AD trade and Kispert might go to Dallas in that.

But for now, it gives them more depth and shooting and removes the distraction of Trae.

Amazing they paid 3 firsts and a swap for DeJounte then moved Trae for 34yo CJ McCollum's ending contract and Corey Kispert.

Glad to see the lakers still get the whistle at away games.

I hate Marcus Smart so much.

Luka was averaging 6.6FTA/game last year in Dallas.

He's averaging TWELVE right now.

Just give it to Keldon and have him big body whatever spare the Lakers have on him.

Spurs are in a slump with 3 point shooting and yet they keep shooting them.
Fox has been cold.
Castle is in foul trouble yet again.
Wemby is on minutes restriction.
Vassell is out. Since he's been out you kind of see how important he is when he's on the floor as another ball handler and shooter.

To be honest I was waiting for a time this season when spurs would go on a slump because it's was too good to be true so far as a young team. I know they will get back on track at some point. Just nice to see this team have potential after seeing them win 22 games each of the last 2 seasons.

You don't start making them again by not taking them anymore.

I think the doctors said Wemby couldn't go over 20 yesterday for first game of b2b and today he got 25. I would bet Mitch wanted Wemby in there to end the game.

It is funny that in the end, neither Atlanta or Dallas was able to (or smart enough to) make a trade that brought back much value for their stars. I'm not sure if it's a harbinger for future trades with maximum salary guys or if the unique defensive limitations of these two made them less desirable than they really should be but it's interesting that high level role players like Bridges and Bane have been much more highly valued when teams get desperate to surround their stars with the right types of players.

Dallas fans are still salty about the Luka trade, but he's been beyond painful to watch defensively when the Spurs have played them this year. It might be a case of where Nico was technically right to decide to move on from Luka, he just did a poor job of executing it and took back a valueless max player in return when there had to be a team like Utah or New Orleans willing to give up picks for him.

For Atlanta, the biggest part of this trade is moving off of Trae's max deal and opening up some major space to absorb pretty much anyone they want.

I think it's long overdue for him just so he can build some confidence in competitive minutes.

It's important to remember that he wasn't a top scoring option at Arizona either and he could really benefit from having the opportunity to work on his game in that role if we're going to find out what his ceiling is. As is, it's really hard to figure out where the minutes come from for him with the way Keldon's been playing off the bench.

Bryant seemed to be snake bitten. Had some really good looks just not go for him. It was like he was running into a wall.

With Sochan starting to re-establish himself, it makes a lot of sense to go ahead and send Bryant to the G League to both get him some more run and to clear the runway for Jeremy

This will never, ever be a factual statement.

Nico committed NBA espionage.

I don't think that's true, you didn't post my whole quote either.

If Nico would have brought back Austin Reeves plus 3 unprotected 1sts then the deal starts to make a lot more sense value wise.

My whole point is that with how bad Luka is defensively, I don't consider him untouchable in trade talks. Dallas didn't have prime MJ on their team they had a generationally talented scorer with a big weakness as a defender. If the right deal came along, I think it's not that hard to get to yes on it.

Now the deal he took from LA... Yes you are right that Nico is an idiot for taking that specific deal.
