What I had seen was that Washington wasn't going to have an extension as part of the deal.



My guess is that Trae wants WAY too much compared to his league value.

It was either Lowe's podcast or Vecenie's podcast that said if Washington could lock him in on an extension where his salary is under 40M/year, then it is a win. After Fox got 4y229M, I can't see Trae taking 4y160. Mikal Bridges was 4y150M - which is about 20-21% of the cap. We are starting to get into that Immanuel Quickley range (32.5M/year flat contract)

So the question is: who would have space AND be willing to pay Trae more than 20% of the cap? Brooklyn has space, but Demin is really starting to look really promising. Kings? They don't have space, but are dumb as hell.

I think Washington kind of makes the most sense because they have Sarr and Bilal for defense. Trae with Sabonis as his rim protector would be a nightmare.

My prediction when this first broke down:

Ballmer suspended 1 year.
Clippers lose picks. They don't own their own pick until 2030. With Minn (5 picks in a row, later dropped to 4 picks) as a template for Joe Smith, I think the NBA should remove every other first starting in 2030 until 2040. Five firsts total.
Kawhi has contract voided.

But the contract voiding and punishments all come after the date when a player needs to be on the roster to qualify for the playoffs so that Kawhi on a Minimum can't impact the league this year and gives everyone a even chance to sign him in the off-season.

At least Tommy Boy Dumont knows he has to tank. No other choice and can't clear any real meaningful salary to get under the tax.

Also has a $31M tax bill for this dog**** year.

Just getting expiring contacts and a pick or two is better than paying tax, paying AD and not cleaning out the roster to build around Coop.

I think the Hawks were moving Trae with the plan of acquiring AD but Mr. Glass broke first.

So what do they do?

Overpay for Gafford?

Hope TimeLord can be healthy?

Kristaps to Utah for the Bosnian Bear (Nurkic)?

I like CJ McCollum over Trae, but he's awful defensively as well and Kispert isn't any better. He's just a shooter.

Closed out decently and only down 5 at the half despite shooting 42/22/57 and only shooting 7 FTs.

Jeremy went in for the last play and played elite defense, forcing White into an airball.

Victor looks like a complete non-factor against a team with only Queta and Luke Garza at center.
