Walks Stephen Drew. Ouch. He has 1 hit this entire series.

Sox take a 3-1 lead!

Sox are just getting clutch hitting when they need it. Wainwright is pitching a good game but is just getting nothing from his offense.

Gonna be awfully tough for the Cards now against Lester and the Sox pen

sure looked like Ross avoided the tag...

when the catcher gets the ball and has time to cross the plate there really is no "avoiding the tag". At that point to avoid the tag, the runner has to leave his base path.

I know what you saw, but nobody more important than a simple baseball viewer has a problem with that call.

Not really. I had a problem with your comment.

going over a tag isn't leaving the base path

and, yes, i know that call goes to the catcher 99% of the time in that situation

Ortiz is easily the MVP of this series thus far.

are they getting Ortiz some oxygen?

I've said it for five games now. Why are you throwing strikes to David Ortiz?

The difference is when you're talking about a close play.

That play wasn't close, and the general understanding, as it is, keeps obvious plays from becoming a circus of jukes and flips trying to avoid a tag when you've made an obvious mistake as a runner. Otherwise it would look like Basewars where any base hit turns into a homerun.

Hope Wacha can continue his winning ways and force game 7.

The Cardinals bats are in a deep freeze right now no matter who it is out there pitching for the Sox. Just not getting on base and when they actually do, are not getting any timely hits.

I hate when the Sox are successful, just because their bandwagon fans are so obnoxious. Almost as bad as Saints bandwagonners

Haven't posted over here in a few months, but this has been a great series...while most will say Ortiz is hands down MVP, I think Jon Lester needs to be in the discussion...maybe Co-MVPs...

I love Wacha, but I can't handle game 7 lol..want us to close this out Wednesday!

Runner on the dirt when the catcher gets the ball, runner in his slide by the time the catcher can get the ball to that side of the plate? I consider that one close enough, and if the runner can bend his foot around the tag, I have no problem calling the guy safe, and maybe would perfer to see the guy called safe.

That wasn't some sort of safety thing, or some kind of backyard baseball, that was the guy avoiding the tag. I don't expect the umpire to nail that one, but if the runner avoided the tag in that situation, he avoided the tag.

p.s. Ross just about rubbed chalk out with his left hand. He was completely within the "basepath."

...and he was tagged out.

The catcher was waiting a day and a half for him to get to the plate. It was not, by any stretch of the imagination, a "bang-bang" play.
