I've watched the slow motion replays about 3 times now and I'm not sure its taken me a day and half.

For those who think Ron Washington has no clue how to manage, I give you Mike Matheny.

Game 4--Maness had nothing the prior game, Matheny brings him in again, Gomes goes yard.

Game 5--Wainwright is losing control, Martinez is rested and available, but Matheny stays with an ineffective Waino and gives up two runs.

That's just plain silly.

He has trust in players in certain moments, just like Farrel trusted Breslow in game 2. Why shouldn't he, he's been a baller during the postseason(maybe all year, I'm not sure and don't feel like looking up stats). However, it backfired. Matheny did nothing wrong in using the pitchers he used, it's a matter of trust. It backfired.

Hindsight is 20/20, if you ask Matheny if he'd change it knowing he'd get the same results, of course he would. Now it would be silly if he didn't learn from his mistakes. Something I feel Ranger fans feel Washington doesn't do.

The Cards problems this series have little to do with their pitching. They just can't get their bats going. Boston pitching has really shut them down and they haven't had a guy like Ortiz (who can seemingly get on base these days by just showing up for the game) step up and deliver consistently.

I actually didn't see the actual Dent hit. It was a day game and I was in grade school. I got home just in time to watch Yaz pop up to third base to end the game.

Cards get two on and no one out and can't plate a run. Story of their series.

We'll see how Boston does now in the same situation with 2 on and no outs.

Lights out Cards I think. They just don't have it in the bat department this series. Boston getting all the clutch plays...maybe they'll get some heroics again like they did against the Rangers but they just seem listless at the plate.

Any reason Wacha threw 0 change ups to the last 4 batters? Molina looked to be over thinking it...it's the guys best pitch

Pedroia just won the Gold Glove. That was a costly error.

A few thoughts ...

The Cardinals were not a power hitting team this season. They also don't have much speed. They won 97 games because they hit .330 as a team with RISP... 60 points higher than their total batting average. You shouldn't be able to keep that up for 162 games. There's no way in hell. But they did, until the World Series.

I don't know what to think about Wacha. He labored in Game 2, but bulldogged his way to a win. I am wondering if the length of a full season in professional baseball is finally catching up with him. I also wonder about the lack of changeups in that last inning. However, I have an almost blind trust in Yadi and his pitch calling. I also haven't paid attention to see if Wacha has been shaking him off.

I was certain that Wainwright would win Game 5. Even if the Cards come back tonight, I don't see their offense winning a Game 7.

Getting nothing at all this series from Adams, Freese, Jay, Kozma, Descalso. That's not a winning formula. You need the lower part of your order to produce something. Once they get past Molina in the lineup, its pretty much a free few outs for the Sox.

They gave no run support at all to Wainwright in Game 5 or to Lynn in Game 4 and aren't giving anything to Wacha tonight when he really needs it as he's giving up some runs.

Wacha's dominance appears to be waning.

Game is far from over but I was really hoping for a game 7.

surprised the cards have been so terrible hitting in the WS. that was why they were so good all season. great hitting with RISP and also with 2 outs.

Matheny needs to go as manager. This will be two straight years where he had a team leading a series, then losing the last three games to lose it.

Would Wash get this many chances? (After November 1 he won't)
