Good for Charlie Fn Morton. Wasn't he supposed to retire when he left the Astros?
Houston should retire his number for what he did in game 7 in the ALCS and game 7 of the world series in 2017.
Nah. But he should go into the Astros HOF for that.
It'll be interesting to see how many of the 2017-2022 guys go into the Astros HOF. I wonder how selective they will be
Altuve is in, no matter what. Springer, probably. Less sure about Correa and Bregman, but those are likely the only ones.
Verlander? Maybe
The HOF vs the Astros HOF are very different.
They inducted Caminiti. I loved him but he sets the bar pretty damn low.
See, I didn't know what the bar was for the team's hall
I think the Astros Hall of Fame is basically about ownership, fan, and former player feelings, marketing, and merch. Actually baseball production falls after that.
Craig Biggio was really close to Caminiti and so was Bagwell. I bet they lobbied hard to get Ken in, who was also a fan favorite. So, it isn't baseball prowess that got Caminiti in, but the two most famous Astros lobbying.
For this reason, I bet Darryl Kile gets in.
Verlander (Crane will put him in), Altuve, and Yordan are locks for Astros Hall.
Springer is probable as it appears fans/management are the least bothered on how he left and he was a World Series mvp.
I think with who Bregman signs with and what he says about his time with the Astros will strongly influence his Astro hall chances.
Correa is the hardest to read.
But then again Altuve could lobby for any of those guys, fan sentiment wants them, or a 2017 anniversary class event puts some or all in.
The real dark horse is Yuli. Who I could see especially if there is a big anniversary for the 2017 World Series team.
I also wouldn't be surprised if they just put the WS winning teams in as a whole and side step this issue.
In this scenario, Verlander/Altuve/Yordan would also be inducted as individual players.
Say in 2037 for the 20th anniversary for the 2017 team and 2042 for the 2022 team?
