Brauny needs to check his math.

765/15 = 51.
Both of you do. That's per year. Per week is 765,000,000 / 15 / 52 == 980769.2308

This is correct. Dang brauny math

Still…. Not a bad bi-weekly paycheck he will be receiving.

It's $139,630.39 a day.

It's $5817.93 an hour.

It's $96.97 a minute.

It's insane.

Yankees got cheap. Just like John Hammond did with Dennis Nedry.

Zero chance he opts out. 5/305 for ages 26-30 is way more team friendly than the full deal.

$314,814.81 per game

Using his career 162 game averages...

PA: 708 -- $72,033.90 per PA
AB: 568 -- $89,788.73 per AB
R: 113 -- $451,327.43 per R
H: 162 -- $314,814.81 per H
HR: 35 -- $1,457,142.86 per HR
RBI: 102 -- $500,000.00 per RBI

ETA: NVM this isn't correct given Farmer's post with the front end loading but I'm not gonna waste the time to fix it. This assumed $51M per year.

700 M with a **** ton of deferrals sounds super cheap for Ohtani.

51 Million in a year with 52 weeks means it is less than a million a week. Sorry I didn't do the unneeded extra step for you.

I see your point now, but that wasn't at all clear in your abbreviated first attempt. Definitely looks like you were saying it should be 51 and got the units wrong. Glad you didn't.

Tucker's price tag may be more like 350-400 if he has a big year.

Mets always throw a bunch of money around, with mediocre results. Then, they have a fire sale a la Verlander and Scherzer, and have to eat some of the contract.

While past results don't predict the future, they sure set a pattern.

And oh by the way. Assuming a 6% commission, Scott Boras will make $45,900,000 on this deal.

Even if it's only 3% it's $22,950,000.

Raise your kids to be a ruthless sports agent. It's a lucrative gig.

As soon as Bregman officially says now I'd offer Tucker 10 years 300M

My fear is we are going to lose on Bregman and try to make some emergency moves to stop gap the loss. We would then go into next year slightly worse than this year and directionless.

I would really like to see the team pick a direction and be aggressive

IMO you let Bregman walk now and go full on with Tuck and make him an offer he cant refuse and lock him up this week. Or at least try to. You also go after your backup plan 3b and sign him today. I've got a feeling the next two days at the winter meetings is going to be fun to watch.

The market has been completely reset with Soto.

Yes on the last part but candidly Bregman walking may be better for this team, especially if there's any legs to this Pressly for Bohm deal. Walker, Kim and a few pitchers (Flaherty and Eovaldi) look like better values anyway.

I just don't see our "enhanced" offer being big enough to bring Breggy back. Nor do I think it would be wise to offer that much ($200M+). Surely Dana and Crane realize this, right?

A friend of mine is from Dallas and we have a lot of fun talking trash back and forth. He knows very well the pain I experienced in 2005.

He Facetimed me one random Sunday morning a few years ago. I answered and I'm still not sure where he was but he said there's someone I need to meet.

He flipped the camera around and it was Scott Podsednik. "Hey man I'm Scott".

I instantly hung up. Well played though.

Funny!

It's strange though --- Astros fans hate Podsednik but love Blum.

If you assume 1 WAR = 8 M, Soto will need to have 96 WAR for the rest of his career to break even. Only 21 players in history have a career WAR of 96 or more. If Soto were to reach another 96 WAR, he'd finish his career 7th all-time with 132 WAR behind Ruth, Bonds, Mays, Cobb, Wagner, & Aaron.

Soto is going to end up an all-time great. This is a massive overpay.
