This article says the Astros were going to pay the majority of his salary. Who knows what's true.

He's owed 74 M. The Cards were willing to pay for 15-20M.

You'd think that it costing us the 2023 championship would have been enough to teach us

They just offered me 3 years, $42 million.

The Astros would have paid Nolan $15M/year

I wonder if that means Cards would cover all the deferred or we would?

2025 - 21 M + 2 M deferred
2026 - 16 M + 2 M deferred
2027 - 15 M + 2 M deferred
2028 thru 2031 - 2 M deferred per
2032 thru 2041 - 3 M deferred per year

He's owed 96 M for 3 more years of play.

You couldn't be any worse than Abreu was...

It could always be worse.

The Rockies sent $51M to St Louis to cover his salary and are still covering $5M each of the next two seasons. If St. Louis chipped in $12M and $7M, that brings it down to $15M per year for the next three years. My assumption is that we'd then cover the deferred.

Any input on what prospects they were gonna send over to STL?

Ok, Arenado is out (thank you Jesus). Now let's get busy signing an OFer or two, and let's see what the O's are willing to give up for Framber.

I'm good with the Arenado trade not working out. That move would have been fine with me but I'm not upset it didn't work out

Would prefer this to the Yankees. Really any one but the Yankees.

Although the fans reaction and to AB on their team would be something to witness.

Dezenzo may end up being our answer at 1B. That's why I hope the focus is more on signing OF help. Like adding 2 of them.

He's gonna have to make some significant improvements because IIRC he struggled mightily and did not look comfortable over there last season.

A buddy of mine in the media says Bregman is asking for some rather prima dona things in his deal that might be slowing things down a bit.

Oh, I agree. That's why I said may end up being the answer. I just think we need much more help in the OF. Singleton, Caratini, and Dezenzo (and occasionally Diaz) can cover 1B next season. I'm having nightmares with Meyers, Chas and Dubon as our 3 OFers....

He was very good against righties. Not so much against lefties.

He made some pretty boneheaded errors

Give me 2 of Teoscar, Santander, Profar, and Kepler. If It turns out Profar and Kepler, then you should have the luxury of going after Walker. This is all assuming we can trade Presley and 1 of McCormick or Meyers.

Lol my bad for reading too fast

Edit to add: His days at 3B are just about over. He's been working exclusively at first and left field.

If we closed the offseason signing Profar, Kepler and Walker, that would be phenomenal

Would love to see the fans all yell "cheater!" at him every time he shows up in a yankees uniform at Minute Maid The HVAC Dome

Didn't Roger Clemens negotiate into some of his Astros contracts that he didn't have to travel with the team if he wasn't scheduled to pitch? That's got to be the most diva-clause ever.

Only specific colored skittles in his locker for every game? Pace salsa and Tostitos at every stop?

Come on, you can't just hit and run with this and not drop at least a little of the absurd things that he is wanting.

Its a new position for him. I think it'll be fine. He looked fairly comfortable for such limited experience.
