Interesting stuff here, good burns on the front office, insight into why guys aren't signing, and interesting tidbits on how the taxes/money plays for guys that go there. Contract values are apparently based on USD, so Canadian value is about 1.4x whatever the US value is.

I think you are heavily favoring WAR over counting stats, which doesn't surprise me but I don't think aligns with those who actually vote. And, again, the 2017 issue isn't going away from him, primarily because he (unlike Altuve) is rumored to have been a large beneficiary.

I still miss him dammit.

Chuck and LMJ starting/closing out both game 7s is such a crazy fact.

"Of course I want the Damn Ball."

What was it, 33 straight curveballs the Yanks whiffed at?

Yeah Bregman could make the HOF with a couple more 2019ish seasons but we've seen no evidence since then that's that possible.

His career trajectory isn't there. If it was he wouldn't be unsigned.

24 I think. Not only could they not make contact, they couldn't stop swinging.

Yordan is 10000% on the path. It's not even a little close. A 166 wRC+ thru his age 21-26 seasons is elite.
I'll bet you season tickets for the 2045 season that yordan doesn't make the hall of fame based on traditional voting.

Who knows what will happen. Plenty of guys looked great in their 20s and fell off. As of now if Yordan continue his pace (even with counting #s and injuries) over the next 6/7 years, he's going to be a lock.

Over his career only Judge and Trout have been better than him hitting. He's been better than Soto, Harper, Machado, Ohtani, etc.

Santander unlikely. From his article:
Quote:

While Santander is also a fit with the Houston Astros, who could use a high-impact outfielder after trading away Kyle Tucker, a league source tells KPRC 2 that it is unlikely Santander will land in Houston. The switch-hitting outfielder is seeking the type of long-term deal that would put the Astros well into the competitive balance tax for the second consecutive season, something that is very unlikely to be palatable to the Astros.

BlueJays may end up giving him a ridiculous deal when they miss out on Breggy.

"The Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays have been described as "very, very real" possibilities for Bregman by a league source."

How much of that 91-95 Bagwell data set if from that 94 season? That partial season was the greatest RHH season I have ever seen. Without the broken hand and strike it would have assaulted the record books in ways never seen.

If Bregman wants any shot at the HOF his choice is Boston. He just needs to ball out for 2 seasons then stay above average for 3-4 more. If Boston wins a title, he's a lock.

He's got 1,132 hits and 191 HR. They'd have to add 20 stories to the HOF to get him in the conversation. Rolen who shouldn't be in had 300 or so more hits at the same age.

According to Jon Heyman, Bregman's next destination could be either the Detroit Tigers or the Toronto Blue Jays, with Heyman stating that these two clubs are the "most likely" to sign him.

The Tigers have shown long-term interest in Bregman, while the Blue Jays would provide an intriguing landing spot, especially if they can lock down Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a long-term deal.

Houston should retire his number for what he did in game 7 in the ALCS and game 7 of the world series in 2017.

Nah. But he should go into the Astros HOF for that.

It'll be interesting to see how many of the 2017-2022 guys go into the Astros HOF. I wonder how selective they will be

Altuve is in, no matter what. Springer, probably. Less sure about Correa and Bregman, but those are likely the only ones.

Verlander? Maybe

Bregman is definitely in. Here longer than Springer. Correa was also here just as long as Springer. No WS MVP but not like he was a Killer B in the playoffs.

The HOF vs the Astros HOF are very different.

They inducted Caminiti. I loved him but he sets the bar pretty damn low.
