I just shake my head at the Dodgers being 50% more than the second place team and being basically $200MM over the CBT.
Here's a way to stop that. Take every single draft pick and all of their international pool money from them. Don't let them sign anyone. And do it for every year that they are like this.
Who in MLB HQ is against the Doyers doing what they're doing?

The deal: 2-Year, $14 million.

If we want to compete, I think it's time to go the route of super early extensions. Let's go lock up Cam. If someone like Blueballs breaks out this year, let's get him extended an extra year or three. If we trade Paredes for a pre arb outfielder, same thing. Take some risks and guarantee we have these guys primes.
If we want to compete sounds like we need to have a $400,000,000 lineup
Sure but if we extend Tucker early, he's not a free agent yet. It's about keeping guys in their prime. I know the Dodgers look unbeatable, but they're going to age just like everyone else. Ohtani, Freeman, Betts, Snell, Glasnow, Diaz, Scott, & Muncy are all over 30. We might be singing a very different tune in 2 years.

Pretty good summary of Kyle's attitude
EastCoastAgNc said:This doesn't change much in the Astros' search for a backup catcher. They were interested in a reunion with Caratini, but knew he'd probably get more lucrative offers elsewhere with more playing time involved. Adding a veteran to compete with César Salazar remains the goal. https://t.co/Moayp1Qjee

seems relevant to note that the Astros are not the only team struggling to lock up their stars long-term. Most young players want to get to FA as fast as possible. Here’s Trent with big news on the Reds: Elly De La Cruz turned down what would have been the largest contract in team history. https://t.co/asLiUNpsnJ

The Atlanta Braves financial statements are publicly available and serve as a general guide for understanding the business of baseball. Any good accountant can move some decimals here and there, but these are a good starting ground.

The Braves made $46M in profit last year on… pic.twitter.com/7v1EEykSBf
Blue Jays offer to Kyle Tucker was $350M for 10 years. They certainly put in a big effort. Still one of the biggest winter winners with all they’ve done.

The Dodgers already broke baseball.

So what if they just traded for Paul Skenes? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/iksxDioj1H
Im hearing the Orioles have offered Framber a 5 yr contract around $180 million with no opt outs. Framber wants either a 7 yr deal or a deal that includes an opt out after every season. The Orioles are planning to compete this year, but won’t throw the future away for 1 year.

An opt out every year is crazy. Guy pitches well and he's gone, he blows his arm out and is on the hook for 7 years.
