-- Paredes will get reps at 2B this year.
-- Matthews will play 2B & CF
-- Correa said he's taken more ground balls this offseason than last five seasons combined.
-- Correa wants to play in WBC but is awaiting approval from club.
Astros GM Dana Brown said today "we’re still having conversations about certain moves that we could make to make the team better." Brown specified he still has interest in adding a left-handed bat.

If we trade for Hicks, they need to take McCullers.

Abreu .465

And this is with Paredes playing in very friendly RHH HR parks while Abreu played in a difficult LHH HR park.
Exit Velo / EV90 / Max EV 23-25
Abreu 91.2 / 106.7 / 114.4
Paredes 86.3 / 201.3 / 107.7
Not even close there.
Paredes is a really good player. I know that. But you seem to have built him up to something more than he is.

Sounds like a bluff. Paredes ain't playing second no matter how many "reps" he gets.

You're just cherry picking seasons. We know Isaac did not play well in 2024, reason why he was traded. Looking at his career, that was an outlier. Last season, 2025, in our ballpark which is very similar to Fenway, Parades did significantly better.
Higher OPS, higher slug.
It doesn't matter to me if Abreu plays in a difficult LHH HR park - we got Issac because he fits Daikin Park.
Abreu also struck out significantly more than Parades, hit for worse average, and had a much lower OBP. Collectively Abreu currently is a worse hitter than Parades and makes our team worse for the next two seasons if we trade him for Abreu.

How do you know? He's played it before in his career, and he's unlikely to be worse than Altuve.
Parades has plenty of options to get regular playing time playing 1B, DH, 2B, 3B. He doesn't need to play very many at 2B.
If I were the team I would also have him play some LF at Daikin park where it's not really an issue.

This is a goal post move. You just said pop which is what I addressed.
I used the last 3 years because it is a close window and covers Abreu's career. Going back to 23 helps Paredes.

My eyes and sources.
I agree. It can work from a pure innings/PA standpoint. But it's not going to be a good conversation, to tell a vet like Paredes he's not even a starter. It's not going to be great for the locker room. Paredes, Walker, or someone is going to be uphappy.

From what I understand, his range made it tough to play him at 2nd and OF before the injury, but basically makes it no chance to play those after the hamstring injury.
What are you going to do without Mauricio Dubón?

Cam Smith: "Dubón, oh my gosh. He was our DJ. You could say he was my best friend. A mentor. But it's baseball — it's a business. I know he's happy to continue playing this game. We'll see him down the road."

Parades doesn't seem like some prima donna Devers type person. I don't know why the locker room would be an issue.
I think it's an easy conversation to tell Parades he's going to get the same or more ABs than last year if he stays healthy but he will need to rotate around positions in order to do what's best for the team.

I have a buddy who is a life long Rangers fan. He said Seager is a guy who likes to come to the stadium every day and do his same routine and take care of himself. Basically a guy who just wants to show up, do his thing, and put up big numbers. Simien was trying to do team meetings and get togethers and rally the troops in a bad season and he wanted Seager to be a leader in the clubhouse (all the rah rah stuff). But Seager wanted no part in all of that and just let his work effort and play do the talking.
