I literally don't understand the salary cap fetishism. It's a billion dollar sports franchise, the penalty on being $7million over the salary cap, even the second year in a row is peanuts (compared to the entire payroll).
I think the hit is more the loss of draft picks. For a team that has a depleted minor league system those higher picks matter.

I will say, if we just moved Sanchez to free up some cash without getting a LH at bat, that's no good. Sanchez has quite strong numbers against righties and was a good platoon fit for us.
