Based on the activity going on, most of this seems to be stuff from the winter meetings flushing out. Seems like the Astros didn't have any solid leads based on what happened there.

I used to walk by Dave's desk when I was at 13. He always had the Astros game on between the 6 & 10, and he would be eating a Whataburger. Will miss ya, Dave!

I remember what it used to felt like to want to win as an organization.

So far, we aren't even staying the same. Hopefully we get some activity soon.

Crane took a play from Crazy Jerrah's book… drama and hype make as much money as winning.

They have a good farm system. We don't. Shouldn't shock anyone

Y'all need to get used to getting outbid on trades because we just don't have much to offer.

Not sure why this is surprising. Dana said as much last week.

This is a very important draft year for Dana. Our farm system can't keep living in the bottom third of MLB

The reality is....we are at the end of a great run. The tank doesn't have enough left in it. Luhnow said the organization was built for a 10 year run. Here we are, starting with the wild card in 2015. The *****ing about Crane is ridiculous. The guy has done what he needed to do when it needed to get done. He's been the best owner in Houston sports history. This needs to be the season of starting the rebuild.

These last couple years, plus probably the next 1 or 2, are the product of the penalties from the cheating investigation. How many draft picks did we lose? Then we traded away some players to extend the window in the last 3 years, which is fine b/c we won it all again in that time. We need to hope that Cam gets going in '26 and Diaz gets back to above average, so we aren't spiraling as we try to build back up in the farm.

Chas and Diaz not taking the next step after a strong 2023 is a big part of it IMO. Also the pitching injuries. They were depending on guys like Luis Garcia and McCullers to come back to form. Just never happened. Also Framber having a meltdown wasn't part of the plan.

Then they really set themselves back with the Abreu and Montero contracts.

Just a lot of little things that have added up over the last two seasons coming back to bite.

We knew the window was closing, it's now firmly shut. It's okay we had an insane run.

Aside from Crane going joker mode and deciding to spend another $100mm a season in free agency, we are not getting a major update.

We need to suck for about the next 5-6 years to refill the farm.

I see this coming season as being a 83-79 or 84-78 type of year where we feel like we are "just a few games away from making a run", which will force some tough decisions next offseason when it comes to veterans and a rebuild

My goal is just to have one more fun playoff run with Yordan, Correa and Altuve.

This is why I'm ok trading Isaac for a guy like Tolle. Much younger and much more control. There's risk obviously but we may have already crossed into too old without knowing it, specifically if the luxury tax is going to be our budget.

Padres make the most sense. Great player but yet another guy due to go into the decline phase.

See last season as an example of what happens when you rely on perfect health to cover up for a lack of depth.

I'd like to see us get better; however, last year was a historically unhealthy year.

It wasn't perfect health, it was awful health. We had so many injuries it really should be an outlier.

Had the injuries been more normal, the season would have likely ended up differently.
MaxPower

We lost Framber and have added no one near his abilities so that is not definitively true. We also have aging players who may well get even worse. Yes returning to just normal health will help but this is likely an 85-87 win team that will be in a similar position to last year.

I have a feeling that Altuve will bounce back. Yes he is getting old in baseball years but I just have a feeling.

Relax.

There's still tons of offseason left.

Framber was 13-11 with a 3.66 ERA. We aren't having to replace ace-type numbers because Framber pitched like a AAA player in the second half and his season as a whole was that of a 2 or 3 starter, which I think we'll add.

Offensively, we're a little more health away from being just fine. We don't need the entire lineup to avoid the IL all season. We just need to avoid having more production on the IL than in the lineup.

Enough time to trade away our 2nd youngest player who looked great when healthy.

I really hope he (and all of our guys who spent the season in the IL) sits out the WBC. I want them coming into spring training rested and healthy.
