Love the reasoning.

Why only 1 year?

One of my biggest issues with the Rangers is their insistence on signing players - pitchers mostly - who year after year spend an unreasonable amount of time on the IL, or have recurrent injury issues, etc., and somehow seem to expect a different outcome. "He'll be really good for us if we can keep him healthy." Well no sh*t, every team that's ever had these guys said the same thing. Especially when the players they sign are 34 and up.
Probably an unfair rant, but there it is.

Pitchers get hurt. All of them are getting TJ. When you sign a "healthy" one that is good, they cost an absolute fortune, require a long term commitment, and chances are they'll be on the injury shelf within 2-3 years - most likely missing the bulk of 2 seasons when it happens. It's actually pretty sharp to get the guy who just got past an injury and get them at a steep discount. Fresh elbow ligament. All of them may not pan out, but you can sign 2-3 of them for the same price as the 1 guy I described
This seems to underscore how restricted the Rangers' payroll will be for 2026. There was real interest in bringing Armstrong back; he was a great presence in the bullpen. https://t.co/Hv1GdUULDm

MLB insider Jon Heyman reported that there was a clubhouse “conflict” between Marcus Semien and Corey Seager during their time with the Texas Rangers.

Speaking on Bleacher Report Live, Heyman said the Rangers ultimately traded Semien to the Mets in part because the organization… pic.twitter.com/iFBhMADPPV
Because there was no clubhouse cancer. It was just a clubhouse that needed refreshing. And Semien’s performance was declining

Confirms what we reported. Rangers payroll was $241.38 mm for CBT purposes. Barely squeaked over. Not where you wanna be. Either go o we & go for broke or don’t go over. Rangers were only team to pay tax & finish with a non-winning record https://t.co/Gy6yoJDGiK
