I appreciate your guidance so far. By no means am I hell bent on applying, I have around $15k in property taxes that need to be paid by the end of January. I will be paying $7k in December between my SW Biz & Personal to qualify for the Companion Pass in early 2020.

From there, I am looking for the best sign up bonus option for the remaining $8k. I am partial to Chase UR because I primarily fly SW and stay with Hyatt. But also have an Amex Platinum.

I have attempted to open Chase Biz cards for my wife but it was has been mostly misses. She is at 2/5 in the last 24 with 1 card hitting 2 years next month.

I am 2/5 in the last 24 months. See * below. Current card inventory:

Chase
- Sapphire Reserve (opened at launch in Sept 2016)
- Freedom Unlimited
- Freedom (2 from PC)
- Hyatt (opened end of 2018) *
- SW Personal (opened Nov 2019) *
- Ink Preferred (opened end of 2018)
- SW Biz (opened Oct 2019)

Amex
- Platinum (opened Nov 2017; likely cancelling in Jan. Called retention and was not offered a bonus)
- Blue Cash Preferred

I've looked into the Amex Biz Platinum and Amex Green but opening another CIP for 80k really peaked my interests.

Any suggestions on what sign up bonus offers to target?

5/24 rule is all brands of cards, isn't it?

You have 4 cards there opened in the last 24 months, maybe more depending on those freedom open dates.

My understanding is business cards do NOT count towards 5/24 because they don't show on your personal credit report. The Freedoms are all well over 2 years old.

That said, apps to all cards (personal and business) will be denied if you are over 5/24 unless you have a method to bypass like Chase Private Client, Pre-approval, etc.

In your situation I would be looking for the phone in Amex Biz Plat 10k/100k offer if it's around. This offer can fluctuate alot. It's also triple dip season. If you get that app fired off and approved today you have time to burn the travel and dell credits before EOY.

ahh yes; however that is assuming you used an EIN and not SS for biz though correct?

No. Won't matter either way. The issuer either reports biz cards to personal reports or they don't.

What are y'all's thoughts about getting a lot of points, but not using them right away?

I've got 300K AMEX MR points, 450K Hilton points, 200K AA points and about 200K Marriott points. I travel 4-10 times a year, both for business and personal (and I have cards that give me extra points on all of those). I was thinking about letting things build up for several more years (possibly until I retire somewhere between 5 and 9 years from now).

Then, I'd use the absolute **** out of them until they were gone.

Or, should I slowly bleed them out every year as I do my personal travel? FWIW, I do at least one trip to the Caribbean/Belize and at least one trip to New Orleans a year...

Up until now, I've spent them here and there, but I'm looking at getting some bigger vacations later

A lot depends on your personal finances, without points, my family and I couldn't travel anywhere near what we do. We don't do extreme, but several fun trips a year. The true experts always say earn and burn because it's a fictional currency that could be taken away at any time. That being said, I always have ~300k points in a variety of sources trying to hold onto a couple free nights in hotels just in case.

The thing is, I can afford to pay for all my trips (now that all my kids are "mostly" off my payroll).

So, it's a case of spending now, piling up points and then redeeming them later.

I do keep a close eye on what they're doing and so far my points haven't really been devalued, but...we'll see.

I can't imagine by the end of the week AA doesn't take about 600k miles off me. Put me in the camp of use it ASAP.

I don't feel it's really practical to earn enough miles organically faster than they depreciate. So use em.

Well, mine are either flight earned or the one bonus I got from the CitiBusiness card.

Doubt they're taking my *****

Got approved for my second CIP today. I actually closed my first one a month or two back to avoid the annual fee, but just goes to show there isn't the standard 2 year timeframe you have to wait to be eligible for the signup bonus.

Points and miles constantly get devalued through program changes. Use em if you got em and bank cash for future travel.

The card was less than a year old? Or just less than 2 years old?

Less than 2 years. I opened it in October 2018, PCd it to a free card a few months later which I then cancelled in October 2019.

Newest CIP was opened using SSN and exact same name, didn't do the middle initial method that has been suggested in the past.

AA let out a sneak peak of the new award chart that is revenue based. It's bad. It certainly takes the sting off getting banned from the program.

Another reason that "churn and burn" is my mantra.

I've begun to book rooms "prospectively" through Hyatt since cancellation is free. Last year, I waited to book a trip for my anniversary and the hotel increased from 20K pts per night to 25K. Not this year. I booked that sucker a month ago.

I tried calling twice, no luck. I got offered the 100k MR after $25k spend tiered offer and 75k MR after $20k spend. Any tips?

The second rep I talked to did allude to changes coming to the Biz Platinum card after the new year and to keep an eye out for new bonuses, etc.

What's a plan B for spend in January? Would it make sense to take a shot on the Ink Cash or another CIP?

I saw there is a 45k MR Incognito offer on the Amex Green but I hate to use a 5/24 spot on that low of an offer.

Who did you call? Did you just call the main line?

Is there a way that I can send you an email? There's a special number you can call that is more like the 2nd level line. But if they (front line) were kicking you a 100k/25k offer on the that's not a good sign. The offers fluctuate a lot on this card.

Business cards that don't impact 5/24 that I recommend (non-Chase since everyone knows of those):

BoA Alaska Airlines Business
AMEX Prime Business (5% off Amazon without impacting 5/24 like the Chase card...i love it)
Barclays AAdvantage - bonus after $1,000 spend
CitiBusiness AAdvantage

If you are over 5/24 or close to it, these cards can keep you busy while taking a break from Chase for a bit.

I've had the SW business card for about 7 months. Is there a reason I should still keep it? I really don't use it anymore after I reach the spending to get the 60k points

Never cancel cards until holding for 1 year, exception citibank.

Product change is good though right? And what's the reason for that?

Chase will flag your account and sometimes (if you have them) try to claw the points back. AMEX is the most frequent offender of doing that.

Yes, a PC is usually ok, but I usually wait until the AF is due, and calling to cancel/downgrade can get you some retention offers sometimes.

Annnnd boom goes the dynamite. Just received my trip cancellation and account suspension emails from American. It was a fun ride while it lasted. Looks like the Southwest booking is clutch right now.

Silky I know AA has been cracking down lately on churners, but why did you get flagged specifically? That really sucks.

I used the Citi AA mailer loophole and received several (>3) sign-up bonuses in 2019 and 2019 and that looks to be the common denominator with most others shutdown. Citi would send three sign-up offers at a time and they were all addressed to me. The loophole was that these offers had 9-digit codes that for some reason bypassed the Citi 24-month limit.

There were others that were creating multiple AA accounts for their pets and fake names and then would receive a Citi AA bonus offer addressed to Fido with the 9-digit code.

I completed 3 biz mailers and a few personal mailers this year that were addressed to me on my account. None had lifetime language. What I thought would burn people, and I did this recently, is using the emailers which were sent to other people.

My wife went through 3 biz mailers also, and a barclays biz public offer this year.

In 2018 I was much more active with mailers. I sort of lost count. Wife was less active in 2018. Probably 3.

I fully expect to be shut down any day now. With the way things are going fully expect wife to be shut down also. It was a good run.

I am on Reddit and have added my DPs to a few threads.

I never got any SUBs using emailer offers. In all honesty, I did create an account for my dog and did receive the emailer offer, but never felt comfortable redeeming.

All seems a little crazy because I would receive a stack of the mailer offers and just apply and wait the 30-60 day window and use up the stack of mailers. Then, one day I would receive a whole new stack of mailers. Citi had to have known what they were doing. I am not crying victim in any of this, I knew full well it was a loophole, but Citi sure made it easy.

Ya,. Sucks. I'm surely dead soon also.

We got stacks and stacks of mailers also. I traded them for biz ones as they bypassed 5/24. Yet they kept coming.

So I've got about $13k of property taxes and such for my house and rental that I need to pay. I already have a Sapphire Reserve, Southwest Personal and Business cards. What are the best cards to sign up for to maximize bonus points? I was thinking the ink business preferred for the 80k points. Any other card(s) I should look at?

CIP is the way to go. Easy 80k points, and URs are a great thing to have and stockpile. I don't churn as aggressively as some on here, but this time of year is an easy time to hit spends with Christmas and property taxes.
