I don't know why, but I like villains on tour. Guys who cut against the grain. Reed fits this bill for me. Guys with actual personality. And guys who piss off Rory.

We just need more players on tour who make you feel something. Good or bad.

No one feels anything about Eric Cole or Lanto Griffin
I kind of enjoyed Cole's story as a career mini tour juggernaut that finally got on to the tour. That being said both these guys probably aren't on the tour anymore next year when they go to less cards. I'm pretty sure Lanto only has conditional status this year.

I get a kick out of people still spelling Scottie as Scotty. You would think he's done enough by now to get the proper spelling.

How about "Prison Scotty"?

its exactly why I don't watch golf anymore...i'll turn it on to see the leaderboard and watch a few holes but after about 15 minutes I just cant be compelled to see if people like Aaron Rai or Chris Goterrup are gonna pull through.

I get this to an extent but, with the exception of a handful of generational talents, isn't this how everyone starts? Aren't most guys nobodies on tour until they aren't?

Exactly. You have to care a bit about some younger guys coming up to have context later.

Gotterup for example it's a fun one to watch. Fully expect he'll be on or close to on the P Cup this year.

Yea, interesting enough I thought the same about Patrick Reed back in 2013, didn't think this Monday qualifier hero would do anything more than win a few tournaments...yet now I found myself kind of excited for him to return, as him being in contention on weekends is great for the game.

It is about those guys, yes….but for me it's better when those guys are out there up against the experienced veterans who are prominent.

Now, it's Aaron rai v Justin lower v gotterup v greysersman…just not as compelling.

Does Justin Rose count as an experienced veteran...if you tuned in today, he is leading after a 62

yes, Rose versus the field is interesting to some degree. Had me thinking - prior to LIV, how many major winners were playing in the field typically at the Farmer's? This year I count (only) 10...wonder if it was much larger prior to LIV. Maybe it isn't. Wonder how other events compare pre-Liv versus now. To me that would be an indicator of a weaker event/field.

No idea. But with the addition of signature events, it's kinda apples and oranges now. You'll get most of the big names in all the signatures. The other events will get a couple of big names, just depending on how they plan out their schedule. But you're just not going to get stacked fields on non-signature weeks.

Rory was the PGAT poster boy for not chasing the money and jumping to LIV and sticking up for the PGAT when all this went down a few years ago.

Week 3 of the PGAT and Rory hasn't teed it up yet, but he did find time to go to Dubai for a couple weeks...where he was most definitely chasing a fat payday.

right, so I guess I'm saying my TV watching is reduced to sig events now.

Not trying to defend the whiny b**** Rory, but he has always started the year in Dubai. He's only played Kapalua once in the last 15 or so years if my memory serves.

Right...but why has he always started his season in Dubai?

I'm sure it has nothing to do with a fat payday...

It's no secret that top players receive appearance fees to play there. Rory is no different.

Right, which is why it was incredibly hypocritical for Rory to ***** about the LIV guys jumping on a payday

But I guess Dubai money is that much cleaner than Saudi money
JCA1

Because playing the occasional "appearance fee" tourney that every pro golfer has done is exactly like joining a start-up to try and put the pga tour out of business. Spot on analogy.

Bich all u want but Rory has ultimately dragged his nuts on LIV. He was the tip of the spear in stopping the loss of talent, and as a result, LIV is deader than fried ****in chicken as far as a professional league fracturing competitive golf

You mean he's also supporting the European Tour where he's a member and started his career, that also runs the European Ryder Cup team? Ooooohhhh nooooooooo

Pretty sure his family is living in London now, and after how the Ryder Cup went, wouldn't be surprised to see him spend more time over there.

I get that some people think Rory got out over his skis a little too far in some of his comments over the last few years.

But at the end of the day, all he did was turn down half a billion dollars because he thought the tradition, history and legacy of the pgatour was worth saving. How people think that makes him selfish, I'll never know.

It's more for his whiny behavior at Bethpage, where he lectured the American media on fans having more class (which they should), only to sink a put and scream "F*** YOU! F*** YOU! F*** YOU!" at all the fans. Pot meet kettle.

Well, after his wife got hit in the head with a drink, all bets were off. Our team was such uncompetitive trash that, by the end, it was beyond ridiculous out there.

Well if we're being honest all the **** you's from Rory came well before his wife got hit by a beer that ended up not being thrown at her.

Doesn't excuse the overall ****tiness of the crowd though.
DannyDuberstein
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Oh, okay, honest mistake since he was bombarded with **** all weekend. I lost track of the order since there was so much. I guess his response on the green must have been between such things as the crowd serenading him on the 1st tee with "**** you Rory" led by a paid PGA of America emcee and before his wife getting clocked with a beer.

But big picture, this dude has taken a lot of heat while the end result of what he was pushing for - one unfractured Tour with more entertaining golf - is in process and something most golf fans are excited to see.

Two things can be true: (1) Rory deserves credit for not going to Liv and for sticking with the pga tour (I give him a lot of credit for that) and (2) Rory was a complete ***** at the Ryder cup and brought most of the crowd behavior on himself.

Oh poor Rory. Fans were saying **** Rory? European fans do the same when we are over there. And he egged it on the entire week. I was there Friday and it was very tame. I'm sure it got worse Saturday, but I don't really give a **** if fans are saying **** Rory. Throwing drinks is obviously over the line but even that video was inconclusive (I don't think the guy meant to do it, looks like it may have gotten hit out of his hand). Either way, I understand why Rory would be upset about it. But maybe he shouldn't be yelling F bombs back to the crowd and then acting like a victim when they give it back.

He kicked our team's ass all weekend too. Being a Mavs fan, I thought you might appreciate a guy with some Luka to him. But nah, he's a bad guy for not just being a bich and taking it, I guess. Kicked our ass and talked some **** while he did it. I can actually respect that
