I suspect he's a great coach, but I would dread multiple years of "how many times he made the NCAA Tournament? Fire him!" posts that would start virtually instantly.

He's also almost 60.

It's not necessarily too old, I just wonder how much longer he's going to be in the game. And there's a little bit of that second part, if he was the next big thing you'd think he'd be the big thing by now.

And Hamilton was just sued by 6 former players claiming they didn't receive NIL payments they were promised. Seems like kind of a mess.

He's a decent coach and Wake is a hard job, but I don't think he's proven to be anything special. He has enough NIL to get players like Sallis and Reid to Wake and I imagine Wake alumni can be swayed to put more towards hoops as they can actually compete there, whereas they can't in football.

He's been on the cusp of the tournament multiple times and finds ways to sh*t the bed every time. Wake was expected to be pretty good this year and they've pretty significantly underperformed the preseason expectation.

I get the former players suing and that whole debacle so that is reason to shy away at the moment. But, that seems more like a Hamilton issue than FSU.

Without that though, you go to a school that has little win-now pressure, great resources, and is in a great location for recruiting and talent. Additionally, unlike some other P4's (UVA!!) you don't have to worry about FSU switching to a worse conference - if anything they could be SEC's newest member in a few years.

Is it a top job in the country? No. But, IMO it's a top 3-4 open job in the country.

They don't have great resources though. At least not like people think they do. They've had money problems.

1) It does seem FSU can't wait to leave the ACC. Although it won't be for at least 5 years.

2) The basketball team due to this new arraignment is actually more win-now than I thought.

3) Clemson and FSU are keeping the ACC alive. Although I get the bias in this article.

Agree. I was going to say that UT also has a pretty old team that Ricks been with a while and might want to leave with. He's also almost 20 years older than Buzz.

I would also say the school not paying out NIL stuff is definitely a school issue and not just a coach issue. Who knows what's true there but it's not good.

Has Hubert Davis been discussed? (Presumably) missing the tournament 2 out of 4 yrs is inexcusable at UNC.

Everyone seems sure he's getting another year. He signed a new contract in the fall but I'm not sure if it changed the buyout terms.

Just got a 2 year extension a couple of weeks ago so I think his job is safe for the next 1-2 years.

Yeah, that will be a powerful combination. I agree that Davis' tenure at UNC is a bit inconsistent to say the least.

Similar in that they both took over for much better coaches. Sometimes you can keep the momentum going for a while but they're not the real deal.

I think Texas has some interesting options potentially depending on which direction they want to go.
