My wife and I went to that game also. Great trip. We were 2 or 3 rows behind the Aggie bench. Maybe the most expensive tickets I have ever purchased. But well worth it.

I do watch these other games now and realize why Bucky is so intent on 3s and layups. If you have a Durant or a Richard Hamilton then sure take the mid range. If not then what are we doing? The other differentiator would be a dude who's a master at driving and lobbing up floaters outside the key. Outside of those types of people you just build it all around layups and 3's

Funny you say that bc I was just thinking some of these shots by the hogs are just stupid low percentage 2 pointers. Bucky ball is making me look at the game a lot clearer.

Numbers wise, midrange shooting is a bad choice.
A 3 is 50% more points than a 2. And if you're going to take a midrange shot, it's likely that a 3 isn't 50% less likely to go in. So just take the 3.
That's the philosophy behind it, of course. The game is far more nuanced. I love the way we play. Fun to watch and effective.
Your odds of getting fouled on a midrange shot are also basically zero which is a big part of the math.
Kentucky getting this one is absolutely huge if they can close this out. Insane schedule left.
And as the broadcast team was saying today, a lot of teams are so focused on stopping our three or fouling us anyway at shooting threes.

I think game planning for us would be so annoying. You coach it and coach it and you might do a good job most of the game but then you start getting mentally exhausted and all of a sudden dudes start slipping open.
And then a down bench player like Dibba or Clemence is hot and drops a few threes on your head.

I thought at the beginning of our game. George was almost playing too fast and it hurt them. They clearly were overthinking it.

I couldn't have been any more wrong on how this Arky-Kentucky game finished . Kentucky had a ton of composure and executed down the stretch. I thought they were dead men walking up until the tech fest.

These two are proof that even if players don't know the history or anything, whether it's classmates or friends or whatever they know what's at stake in these games.
