Paraphrasing on old Japanese saying: If you get on the wrong train, get off at the next station or your return trip will end up being more expensive.

I see the team fighting. They need to keep doing that.
Bama had more flyball outs by a wide margin (and some K's) than contact hits (singles, doubles) etc. They had 4 homers and two were after free passes.
I just wanted to point out there were a ton of fly ball outs for Alabama.
I saw a guy who was mad. Probably mad at himself in hindsight. He wasn't going to throw Rudis (or any player under the bus).BadMoonRisin said:

What gives you that idea? Other than...well, his (non)answers, his body language, his eye movement, his posture....but other than that...
Same thing - he's not going to throw Rudis under the bus and he's not going to admit he made a mistake. He said they liked the matchup. He was relying too much on the analytics instead of staying with the hot hand (Jackson).Fquin said:TAMU1990 said:Oh, I agree. I wouldn't have pulled Jackson until he gave up a base runner. Based on his answers to the press, Early is giving no second thoughts to his pitching moves. They were absolutely the correct moves.

I get PH there if you don't like the match up, but damn use Binderup or Beregevin before Harrison.

Brutal season thus far with the same roster as last year minus normal attrition. I see zero signs of improvement. I just don't think hitters forget how to hit. Maybe we turn the tide today.
Our options to hire a top coach so late in the transfer portal were limited. Vitello listened to our offer because if he'd taken the job, he would have figured that he could hold the roster together for the most part. But, every other coach you care to name would have looked at this as a huge roll of the dice. Take the job and see your roster decimated in the transfer portal, then you take a beating in year one and constantly have to bear the comparisons to the last guy.The Collective said:
Bottom line is we had one of the best coaches in the country. Seemingly, there was nothing we could do to salvage that situation… it was what it was. But to go from Schloss to an unproven coach never made sense to me. Why would our program value shop? There were so many options. IMO, you never worry about talent or the short-term (next season) in hiring a coach.
At this level, you hire a coach with proof that he can win, and you let the other stuff (talent) fall into place. HC is a big job, and we are living on the job training in real time.

Braden Montgomery is the biggest piece missing, just ahead of Appel.
LaViolette and Schott are having seasons (thus far) not even close to 2024.
We miss Grahovac's RBI / HR production.
We knew we'd have a hard time replacing Aschenbeck and Cortez, we haven't come close yet.
I disagree Appel is the biggest loss. Montgomery was out most of the post season and was already going down production wise. Appel's defense and his bat are dearly missed. Just my opinion

I've never been out on a coach after year one…but man…if this is what you field with this much talent, we may need to move on quickly.

The only way we could have had a wide selection was to fire Schloss in April. It would have tanked the season and made us look silly (we also would have had to pay Schloss for the privilege of screwing us).
With the way the transfer portal works, there is a window for coaches looking to move up, bit it starts closing after the super regional.

The excuses are very Aggie esk. Been working on next season since 1939.
Preseason poll #1. That means people who get paid to write about college baseball thought we were the nost likely candidate to win it all. If we don't win today we likely won't be ranked. You can't tell me Grahovic, Sorrell, and Stewart are the difference.
