When the situation warrants that, absolutely. Though we're a far way away from Tony Gwynn and this generation was not trained to hit correctly, so mash or nothing is what we get.

So if that's the case then I want to see our approach change and be as aggressive as possible attacking hittable pitches early in counts. Which we often don't. So we see guys working counts and then swinging with all their might against pitches when they are too often in a disadvantageous position vs the pitcher.

Just to put things in perspective Alcock has pitched against Bradley, tOSU, North Dakota State, and Presbyterian. Didn't get past 4.0 innings in any game and had an ERA north of 5.5.

Situational hitting is a thing. It's not nearly as much of a thing any more, but it is a thing.
If we were getting crazy shifted or dialing up plays with RISP, I agree for some of our batters. Like, I'm never going to ask Jace to bunt though.

Solution is to stop swinging out of your cleats (exit velocity) with an exaggerated uppercut (launch angle) and concentrate on making contact and putting the ball in play. No one cares if it's in the air or on the ground or how fast it gets there if all that you've done previously is make outs.
