Blame it on the AD for having no plan when he supposedly knew about schloss in April.
But they got the coach they begged for. No reason to feel sorry for them.nothingbutlove said:
Well that was painful.
The guys played their hearts out last year, only to have the coach dump on them.
Then this slump or whatever it is happens. I feel for the team.

I am pretty sure Vitello was a more experienced and highly regarded assistant.Thisguy1 said:HowdyTexasAggies said:Evanhue said:
Is Early the Fran of baseball?
At least Fran had some skins, hiring him was understandable. Turns out, there was no reason to hire Earley, nothing, other than the players liked him. He's never been a head coach.
The resume of the last coach to win a national championship with the current number 1 team in the country had pretty much the exact same resume as Earley when Tennessee hired him.

Agreed. The deepest run in program history made this thing play out very strangely...tjack16 said:Killzone3abc said:GarryowenAg said:POS was gone regardlessS.A. Aggie said:

I'll give him a bit of a pass on that. I'd assume the further we made a run the more likely you could convince him to stay.
But you're right… he should have had a contingency plan in place just in case.

Launch angle is so stupid. If Jace isn't trying to lift that ball gets way out. He top-spun it and took easily 50 feet off that fly ball. His swing path is absolutely terrible and almost impossible to hit a ball square and get backspin. Amazing that the hitting coach hasn't fixed that. The worst part is I bet he is responsible for it.

we really think Earley is just sitting on his hands and hasn't been coaching hitting some??… if so, that's horrible

I get this argument, but imo, nobody big was coming to A&M to coach. They tried to land a big fish and failed.AggieBB said:But they got the coach they begged for. No reason to feel sorry for them.nothingbutlove said:

Kelly won't be any better. I'd let Hutch be interim HC before Kelly. At least Hutch loves this place and will probably be here with the next staff.OA_02 said:
I'd get rid of Earley at this point or demote him to hitting coach and letting the pitching coach be the interim hc. This is a total rebuild now.
Could've gone either way, but the emotional decision to keep him because the players liked him sure has backfired. It's almost like a group of 20 year olds aren't quite as smart as they thought they were.Quote:

And I have no faith in our leadership to hire someone who can actually win and build a program in men's major sports.
We were hosed either way. With Earley we had a chance by retaining so many proven players. His hiring seemed to me to be the quickest way to rebuild.
Time will tell, but it is looking bad.
