Fair enough I guess. On the other hand unless we bring in someone new as an interim coach, we're just handing over the team to a staff that is just as much a part of the problem.

And who gives a crap? What is the freaking downside? Earley is CLUELESS and guessing.
My only point is whatever we do now is not likely going to change anything for the better this season. I'm not arguing that it shouldn't be done because as you point out, there really isn't a downside, I just don't see an upside either.
How about not getting caught flat footed in a coaching search, which is exactly what happened last year. It was known in March to the BMAs/AD that Schloss was leaving and we just dismissed rumors which yes was going around in recruiting/coaching circles. Let's be looking now so we won't have to scramble at all come June.
We could have locked Schloss up. We didn't.

False

I didn't read the quote. I just read the False response. I don't understand people who say this? If you offered him $15MM/yr, what would the answer be?

"Del, sweetie, they offered 15. Can you match? Only 11? That's fine"

If we just canceled the rest of the season, would it really make a difference? Are the Tuesday wins against Incarnate Word that important?

Having lived through a canceled season, yes. It makes a difference.

As ensign_beedrill has pointed out, even atrocious Aggie Baseball is better than no Aggie Baseball. We know this due to the cancelled 2020 season. If you don't want to watch, don't.

Do you realize schloss only makes 1 mil for his first 3 or so years to pay back his buyout? That alone tells you he was never staying.

Tennessee really threw a no-hitter against the most talented team in the nation? My god.

I think it's fair to stop calling this team "…the most talented team in the nation."

Jace body language looks really frustrated rn. Understandable. Couple of great defensive highlight catches by third baseman but the long ball by Tenn killed us.
I was sitting directly across from the 3rd baseman tonight six rows up. Outstanding athletic plays by him for most of the night. He only had the one slight misthrow to first which would have ended the inning, but that does not take away from his effort/performance the rest of the time.

Today will be a good indication of the rest of the season(s) for A&M under Earley as it will require him to step it up in the motivation department. Even after watching last night's game, I stick with my 2-1 weekend prediction. My prediction was A&M wins game 2 and I still believe it will happen.

Everyone that is a regular here knows I'm not a quick to fire guy. I like Earley. I was pulling for Earley. I think he is a good young baseball coach. I believe it was worth the risk to hire him to keep the band together coming off last season. Injuries to key players have not made things easier for him. Heck I can even point out that two Omaha winning coaches are mired down with us at 1-9 in the SEC. Still I'm not willing to give him more time. We took a risk hiring him but he had to know he was not going to get the grace of learning on the job most first time head coaches get with their first job.

If this were a merely a disappointing season coming off a Omaha run I could maybe get on board with another season but this has been a complete crash and burn. Looking at the rest of the schedule, things are not going to get better. I take no joy in this, but the experiment has failed. POS buyout pays for this misstep. I think a total reset is what is best for the program in the long run, A new coach will not have the negativity nor the very limited time line for a rebuild. With NIL and new full scholarships starting next year we should be able to draw upon the quality talent that should be available considering the smaller roster size (also new next season) combined with the smaller MLB draft.

Well said. I was also 100% on board with the hire when it happened… it just didn't work out. What hurts the most for me is guys like Jace, Prager, and others who came back because they wanted to win a title here after how Schloss left. Now they won't even make a regional. That's going to really stick with them.

I agree, a proper coaching search that starts early will be beneficial.

I was thinking of your little skyscraper today with respect to this program and the difference between expectations and reality.
Thats rather appropriate.

The World's Littlest Skyscraper

Quote:

The Newby-McMahon Building, commonly referred to as the world's littlest skyscraper, is a historic four-story[4] building located at 511 7th Street[5] (on the corner of Seventh and La Salle streets) in downtown Wichita Falls, Texas.[6] It is a late Neoclassical style red brick and cast stone structure. It stands 40 ft (12 m) tall, and its exterior dimensions are 18 ft (5.5 m) deep and 10 ft (3.0 m) wide.[2] Its interior dimensions are approximately 12 ft (3.7 m) by 9 ft (2.7 m), or approximately 108 sq ft (10.0 m2). Steep, narrow, internal stairways leading to the upper floors occupy roughly 25% of the interior area.[3]

According to the legend, the result of a fraudulent investment scheme by a con artist, the Newby-McMahon Building was a source of great embarrassment to the city and its residents after its completion in 1919. During the 1920s, the building was featured in Robert Ripley's Ripley's Believe It or Not! syndicated column as "the world's littlest skyscraper,"[7] a nickname that has stuck with it ever since. It is now part of the Depot Square Historic District of Wichita Falls, a Texas Historic Landmark.

* * *

Supposedly, the key to McMahon's swindle, and his successful defense in the ensuing lawsuit, was that legal documents listed the height as 480" (inches) as opposed to 480' (feet).[7] Investors did not seem to notice, and McMahon apparently never verbally stated that the actual height of the building would be 480 inches

No, I didn't know that.

Prager is the one I hate it for most. He left 3rd round money on the board. He's not a guy that lights up the radar gun or has massive spin. He's just a good pitcher. Replicating last year was always going to be tough for him. Have to think his draft stock is taking a big hit unless they can attribute it to something from the pitching staff (philosophy, pitch calling, etc).
