Don't want to scare people. But. Heed the warnings. This is bad. Odds are you will be fine if you get infected. But. 20% hospital admission rate is not good odds. Much worse than seasonal flu. Biased cuz I'm pulm/CC DOC. Wicked as hell once these pts hit ICU.

Not including celebrities and not including Texags posters I know 6 people who have tested positive (4 in same family). 1 is hospitalized on a ventilator currently and 5 are self quarantining. A person is insane, politically motivated, or has their head far up their rears if they think this is hype or exaggerated. This is very real

Editing Thurs morning to say 2 of the 6 I know now hospitalized. One went in last night.

Editing Saturday to say 1 of the above still hospitalized, 1 has been discharged. The discharged one was the one that went in Wed night in the above edit. The original hospitalization is still in there but not getting a clear answer on if he's still on a ventilator.

Sorry. It's not equal on both sides and not even close. The overly paranoid may end up being significantly wrong, but at least they erred on the side of caution on what is very obviously a significant world and national issue (as we sit here on house arrest for the 3rd of 6 weeks with no definitive end).

The other side passed the point of just being wrong a days after their original comments, yet have kept doubling-down as things continued to get worse. They are Johnny Jolly doing a sack dance with the score 77-0.

You had posters on one side that were screaming we shouldn't have canceled the Houston Rodeo. That we were over-reacting by canceling the basketball tournaments. That were falling over themselves comparing it to the flu and this was all a big political hit-job.

Sorry, those people don't get to now say "well, both sides were wrong". Those people should wear this and should be recognized for their idiocy. You can't stop stupid, but you can sure as heck make sure it's identified so people can know not to listen to it.

Crazy (and SCARY) thing is, I think I saw a similar thread on here just a few weeks ago, and nobody knew anyone who had it then.

No number fits My high school friend in Oregon. She and her husband had self isolated since the start of March. It must have come in on the surface of something that was delivered, probably from Amazon or grocery store. He has been tested and is positive only reason hospital released him is communication. He is a stroke patient that only his wife understands.
She was told she probably also has it but not enough test kits to test them both.

It is way too soon to know if they will survive--they are both high risk. Hers is age alone, but his is due to mutlitple strokes that keep him weak.

No one personally that I know of. My close friend's dad has it. Some people I don't know at my work have it (which is how I finally got to start working from home last week).

I said the same thing about SXSW. Everyone threw a freaking fit when it was canceled on short notice but given how this played out I can't imagine how bad Austin would be today if they went through with it. 100,000 people from all over the US and the world gathering in close quarters all over the city for hours at a time. We likely could've been as bad as Florida or New Orleans is now.

7 - 83yo lady in good health prior to hospitalization. Intubated for days and seemed to be doing better, then crashed. Friend of the family, and a beloved supporter of theatre arts in Shreveport for decades. OP can go to hell.

Other than the people on TexAgs posting about their personal experiences with it, I've only known one other person, a friend from junior high and high school - and she passed away from it this morning. She was 28.
