My wife's former colleague passed this last week after being in a coma for a week due to COVID.

She retired from high school counseling about 5 years ago, and continued to sub and fill in for counselors. When we had our second child 4 years ago, she filled in for my wife those 3 months of maternity leave.

That is the only person I know that has had it, and it's a sad ending. I think she was in her mid 60s.

Just found out today that a sibling of my former students is on a ventilator in critical condition with it. He would be about 40

My wife's grandmother was suffering from alzhheimers and died in an assisted living facility today The virus got exposed in this facility and she tested positive last week.

Her time was not far but it sucks and my wife is very upset...she was a tremendous grandmother to her.
Where was this facility?

My grandma passed on the 8th and was very very similar situation but we don't know if she had it or not.

I personally know two people who are terribly sick with Covid-19 right now. Both are healthy and fit adults under normal circumstances. No underlying medical conditons. No travel to any hotspots. Apparently, just some really tragic luck.

Then there is also my assistant's brother who is a man in his 40s. My assistant said he's usually healthy, normal weight, no underlying medical issues. He has been working around the public as he is the assistant manager of a business. So, they assume that is where he contracted Covid-19.

My friend's uncle in another state was diagnosed yesterday. She told me he'd been one of the folks saying this was all a joke, saying flu killed more, media conspiracy, etc.. He has really changed his tune in 24 hours and is now scared to death.

My old Assistant Scoutmaster from when I was a Boy Scout and his wife both passed away today. They were both confirmed to be infected with coronavirus.

Also, someone I knew in high school and his wife are both confirmed positive for it. He works in a packing plant in Cactus where they are having immense problems with it.

My cousin who was in his late fifties passed away today. He had long term health problems but apparently he tested positive for Covid and went downhill fast.

Know three people all in their sixties that had it. Two no symptoms one moderate flu like symptoms. This has been extremely overblown.

If one of those people died would you think differently?

How did the two with no symptoms even get tested?

Two. A 44 year old firefighter in Denver who had a tough time but recovered, and another 44 year old buddy with milder symptoms but said it wasn't fun.

My high school friends husband is still clinging to life. He is cured of Covid in the sense that he tests negative, but it left his kidneys and heart so weak that he has been in hospice since Monday when he tested negative for the second time so the hospital would or could not keep him. He will not directly die of Covid but he will die of complications from it. That is what it does to some of the elderly...leave the body so worn out it can't fight any longer. He is late 70's.

I have another friend turning 30 in the fight of her life. It has attacked her heart, not just her lungs. She was in excellent health going into this, but there is huge concern that if she survives, she will have too much damage to ever be healthy again.

I think my son has it. He lives in upstate New York. He's had a scratchy throat, cough and a low grade fever for almost a week now. Fever is usually 99.5-100 in the morning and goes up to 101 in the evening.

His doctor up there said stay home unless he needs to go to the ER. No test unless he wants to drive in to Syracuse, and he doesn't want to.

No. My friend was allowed one compassionate visit of about two hours four days ago. He is alone. But she said the nurses at the Hospice are wonderful. Even with the negative tests, they are putting a two week window before visitors and he is not going to make it that long. Breaks my heart.

One with no symptoms was husband of the one that had moderate flu symptoms. The other with no symptoms is in a nursing home because of disabilities caused by stroke.
Here is a link to a CNN piece from epidemiologist who says this is less severe than flu for young about the same for middle age and more severe for older and nursing home.

We should have just isolated the older and nursing home bound.
It's not too late to correct the way we went about this before we further damage society and our economy.

My friend passed away from pancreatic cancer on Thursday. He spent most of April in the hospital with no visits. His wife was allowed to come in the last day. Really terrible side effect of this whole thing.

These are exact same symptoms as one of the people(sixty year old female) I know who had corona. About day ten of fever went to hospital they took chest xray gave her hydroquinone(?). Lungs were clear sent her home and two days later was on the mend.

That's so awful. I cannot imagine dying alone when I knew my family was being kept from me.

Not including celebrities and not including Texags posters I know 6 people who have tested positive (4 in same family). 1 is hospitalized on a ventilator currently and 5 are self quarantining. A person is insane, politically motivated, or has their head far up their rears if they think this is hype or exaggerated. This is very real

Editing Thurs morning to say 2 of the 6 I know now hospitalized. One went in last night.

Editing Saturday to say 1 of the above still hospitalized, 1 has been discharged. The discharged one was the one that went in Wed night in the above edit. The original hospitalization is still in there but not getting a clear answer on if he's still on a ventilator.

Updating: this person passed away. He was a father of 2 in his late 50s in New Jersey

*** UPDATE ****

This morning, 5/4, he woke up with no fever at all.Still has a sore throat, but says it's better. This whole thing was perhaps 9-10 days long. Highest fever the whole time was 102.

Did he have COVID? Not sure. He is 31 years old with no co-morbidities (except weighing a little more than he should).

Two folks at a client of mine. One was a traveling consultant who was asymptomatic but was tested because his wife got it. We all had close contact with him and another guy at the client ended up getting sick and had to spend several days in the hospital, no vent, discharged a couple of days later and has been at work (remotely) for the past two weeks.

brother tested positive yesterday. It was a required test since he was going in for a surgery.

Hasn't left home other than food/groceries and was WFH. Wife works at a dental office and his son had to continue going to daycare.

Probably got it from either of them. No symptoms shown yet but we'll see.

He's definitely at risk with his health so I'm worried - former smoker and overweight with hypertension.

I see this posted all the time but have never seen anyone explain how you would actually go about this. How do you isolate the workers at care centers etc? My cousin is a single mom and works at a retirement center. I see pictures of her kid with her mom & dad watching her, so who takes care of her kid during shifts? Does she get to go to school?

Not saying that we should stay locked down anymore, but I think that people who say we should just isolate the sick/old/vulnerable are *****footing around the issue and should just go ahead and say open it up and they are on their own

Also, what if the people you're trying to isolate don't cooperate? We've certainly seen uncooperative people at the protests. Now you want to limit people's freedoms because they're old or whatever?
