i'm not a figure skating fan by any means...but evan lysacek is kinda hot. i thought all male figure skaters were gay, but apparently he's not.

Did anyone else have a 3rd grade reaction watching USA v Sweeden womens curling?

The announcer was going on and on about this most important spot and when he put his marker on the screen the camera switched ultimately putting the spot right on the woman's crotch? I watched it at least 4 times. Giggity.

Jen- I kinda agree... with a bit less hair gel and non-gay clothing he probably looks even better. And apparently he used to date Tanith Belbin? He may be one of the few who is actually straight (or at least bi!).

Very happy he won gold though. I am figure skating stupid, so I have no idea what "good" is, but his show looked good to me.

In another shallow note, Plushenko (sp?) is a very ugly man, and that hair-don't is about 25 years out of style. I would consider going lesbian if that was my only choice.

Lysacek is from LA, so it's been on the news tonight out here. Apparently Plushenko jumped on the top platform tonight before stepping down to the silver platform. NBC didn't show it.

He then claimed that a champion should be able to jump a quad, hinting that Lysacek can't. Which he can, just not with a broken foot.

I'm glad Lysaceck and not Johnny Weir was the center of everyone's attention. Weir's a *****.

A lot of them are married. Lysacek's not, but I don't think he's gay. Other than Belbin, I think he was linked with another female figure skater.

Which made the costume he wore the other night a little painful to see. Still glad he won. He seems like a good hardworking guy.

Ok, so Plushenko is saying Lysacek doesn't deserve the gold.

I know nothing about the sport, but after hearing people mention it, I watch his actual skates during his routine. Plushenko does not do as complicated or as clean footwork as many of the other skaters.

He's claiming that's the easy part because he realizes 90% of us won't realize the skill involved.

But he doesn't have the skills and that's why he leaves it out of his programs.

We are cleaning up on the mountain so far, 6 total medals.

These are the Olympic stories that kill me. Ice dancer lives in Michigan and is a US citizen, brother and sister compete for Japan (as a pair, creeeepyyy!), and she competes for Georgia.

One day, she hopes to visit the country for which she is competing at the Olympics. Are you kidding??? Never been there, not sure if she'll ever go???

do the men ski the same course as the women in the downhill skiing? the women all had this huge jump just before the finish line, but the men don't. why is that?

Wow... short track speed skating is SO EXCITING... I just love it, it is always my favorite part of the winter olympics. I watch these races through my fingers sometimes. Someone can ping-pong from first to last and back in it in a matter of a few laps, it is incredible! I hope Apolo can medal in the 500 and the relay.

And yes, that dude with the low scary voice that screams at all the US skiers as they start cracks me up every time.

By the way, the Olympics ordered 100,000 condoms to pass out to athletes in the Olympic Village. That's 14 per person, which sounds like a lot, but over 17 days...

Bode finally strikes GOLD!

I am truly happy for Bode Miller. The media absolutely threw him to the wolves in Torino, deserved or not... but it is just nice to see him so happy and reformed. He seems really focused on redemption, and have you seen him when an interviewer asks about his daughter? He lights up like a Christmas tree. Very sweet.

One of the best stories of these Olympics if you ask me. I am happy he finally got his gold.

My $.02 about the men's skating is that it is Ice Skating not ice jumping and that doooosher Plushenko didnt attempt a jump during the last minute of his routine.

Back in Texas. Vancouver was amazing. They have this transportation thing down! It was a breeze getting around the city.

Canadians are crazy about Curling.

I had to miss the end of hockey game last night as I flew out after the 2nd.

Even without the quad I thought Lysacek's jumps were as difficult if only because he backloaded a lot of them into the bonus (later) portion of his program. He also landed them all cleanly. Plushenko had a slight bobble on one which makes all the difference in the world when the scores are as close as they were.


Anyone see the half hour piece they did on the 1980 hockey team? It was fantastic.

I saw and recorded that piece on the '80 hockey team. Very nice work by NBC.

I didn't realize that the Russians had actually defeated a few of the NHL teams of that day. Loved hearing the commentary from the 3 players, especially about how their coach, Herb Brooks, made himself the "common enemy" so that they would bond together as a team.

USA women crush Sweden 9-1 to reach the gold medal hockey game. Avenged their upset loss against the Swedes in Torino in the semis.

Likely will face Canada in the final.
