Outstanding meet! The men are SEC Champions and scored 155 points far ahead of second place Arkansas with 116.5 points. The women came in third with 113 points behind Arkansas and Florida!
Pat Henry has stated that to win the big meets [SEC and NCAA], a team has to do better than expected. The Men did just that over the past 4 days. Congratulations. Anytime we best Florida [our main SEC nemesis] in anything, it has to be a good season. The Women came close.
cs69ag: Are you class of ’69? I am class of ’64. All male and all military when I was there. Also, both of my parents went to A&M. Probably no one at A&M while I was there could make that claim. 100% Aggie blood.
In the Women’s 200m, Kamaria Brown was projected to finish 2nd for 8 points. We lost 8 but gained 2 by Aaliya Brown and Ashton Purvis being able to finish one position higher – 6-point loss.
In the 400m, Kamaria had the 6th best time for three points. Ibukum Mayungbe was able to finish one position higher for an extra point - 2-point loss. However, Kamaria might have finished higher. A lot of might have beens.
Bralon Taplin (Jr), Aldrich Bailey Jr (So), Carlyle Roudette (Sr), and Deon Lendore (Jr) ran the 4x400. Don’t know their splits. In the 400m race, they finished as listed – 4th, 10th, 6th, and 1st. Excellent running. 28 points in those two races.
MidTnAg...yes, Class of '69...entered in summer of '65 as I went to second summer session...so, if you left May '64, we did not overlap.....thanks for all the info you provide re track!
I did not graduate until 1966 - Brothers died in car wreck and missed a year. Also, changed majors four times. In 1967 thru 1969, I taught math while in graduate school. Was there for the infamous football year of 1967-68. In Fightin' Texas Aggie Band for three years.
Does anyone know how bad the Kamaria injury is and whether she will be running soon?
Are race videos posted anywhere? I will like to watch back at such a great day at the SEC.
I really think the disappointments from yesterday must have further motivated the Aggies today.
Just an update on the Big 12 Championship. Texas women ran 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 400m in 50.03, 50.46 and 51.22. The top two times faster than Shamier Little 51.06. The 50.03 a new college record for Courtney Okolo. Also defending NCAA 400m champion Ashley Spencer did not run the 400m but running the 100m and 200m
