I think what the NCAA doesn't realize having the meet there the next 7 years is that its an additional recruiting tool for Oregon.

I think that's where it hurts most. Will just have to continue going there and beating them on their own turf.

You are so right about that. The recruiting has already started in favor of Oregon. Texas high schoolers are committing and heading to Oregon over A&M.
The commentators also make Oregon look like the Mecca of Track and Field when in my view they are not.
Why should one school have home advantage for the next seven years.
I think it used to be in Sacramento some years ago.

Thanks Clw04 and MidTn and everyone else for some great coverage on this blog. Very well informed and excellent commentaries. Thanks Guys

NCAA Championship hosts + Nike + TV coverage + USATF meets + Diamond League meets...

They've got every advantage possible.

Not to mention that we don't have an outdoor facility fit for a high school meet.

We are going to host the outdoor SEC meet in a couple of years. Thus, we should have new and improved facilities. Too hot in Texas to host national meets.

However, I hope our new facility meets the standards to host Regional meets. It must be as good as the ones in Austin and Fayetteville.

These are two sites you can get all the track signees. Second one you can get by state and then by teams

Trini, I have looked at those [and any other ones I could find] and cannot find any info about the COLLIE-MINNS twins. Where did you find out that they are coming to Aggieland?

This is the only place I have seen that states they are coming to A&M. But not sure of its accuracy.

First things first Hyman obviously doesn't have the vision for the Texas A&M athletic dept Bill Byrne did or most Aggies that care have. He needs to be replaced. Exhibit A: billy Kennedy and our basketball program..

The list from those links are only for high school signees and not junior college transfers.
They confirm it on their twitter accounts and the article is accurate. They signed on the last window for signing April/May

These are Oregon's 5 women recruit this year. Two from Texas and all of them could score at the NCAA next year. All of them are state champions and some are World Junior champion medalist. Raevyn Rogers Tx personal best of 2.03.22 in the 800m would have placed her third at the NCAA finals this year. Ariana Washington Ca, is now wold junior leader in 100m (11.22) and 200m (22.96). Well everyone knows about Sarah Baxter, the hottest middle distance runner in the country

Sarah Baxter (Simi Valley High School / Simi Valley, Calif.)
Personal Bests: 1,600 - 4:49.33; 3,200 - 10:06.74

Alaysha Johnson (Spring High School / Houston, Texas)
Personal Bests: 100 Hurdles - 13.84; 300 Hurdles - 41.24; 400 Hurdles - 1:00.20

Ashlee Moore (Hamilton High School / Chandler, Ariz.)
Personal Bests: Heptathlon - 5,082; High Jump - 5-10; Long Jump – 19-’9.5; 100 Hurdles - 13.89

Raevyn Rogers (Kinkaid High School / Houston, Texas)
Personal Bests: 400 - 53.34; 800 - 2:03.32; 200 - 25.13

Ariana Washington (Long Beach Poly High School / Signal Hill, Calif.)
Personal Bests: 100 - 11.39; 200 - 23.18

I thought moving to the SEC would also help our recruiting since the SEC is the best conference and everyone would want to compete in the SEC.

Don't worry folks Pat Henry would have our team ready next year.

I saw the information about future SEC meets on a Web site. Not sure which one. Trini might know.

Mississippi State is next year. I believe we are scheduled for around 2017.

MidTn,
I have seen Aggie track posted the last list of signees for last period April/May. I will check and see a somewhere

Latario Collie-Minns has a 17.12mW and a legal 16.91m in Triple jump this season
Lathone Collie-Minns has a 16.75mW and a legal 16.22m in Triple jump this season

We can really get a 1-2 from them in the triple jump. They are very descent long jumpers too especially Latario who has 7.69m this season. We can also get some points in the long jump

The order of rotation for hosting future SEC Outdoor Championships shall be:

2015 Mississippi State
2016 Ole Miss
2017 South Carolina
2018 Vanderbilt
2019 Tennessee
2020 Texas A&M
2021 Alabama
2022 Florida
2023 Arkansas
2024 Georgia
2025 Auburn

We have six years to build the stadium

Trini - I see Baxter as more a 5k/10k runner.

I think the big miss out of those 5 was Rogers since we need an elite 800 runner like now. Washington hurt somewhat especially since she goes to school with Ebony Crear and we'd only have to find 2 replacements for Olivia, Kamaria and Ashton instead of 3 next yr.

Some other late signees off the top of my head:
Marcquita Stalbert (sprints/LA)
Emily Gunderson (PV/TX)
Juan Uribe (distance/TX)

So obviously Pat Henry is the greatest coach in Texas A&M history. 8 national championships is awesome. When do we put down 8 million to build the state of the art track and field complex? Baseball has a great faciltiy, we just don't have the coach to match the facility. With track, we actually have the opposite. We have the coach, just not the facility. Many Ags may disagree with me and that's fine, but track and field deserves better than a high school field. Come on Ags, we have won 8 national championships in 6 years it"s time to wake up Ags and build the house.

To be fair, Henry does have a world class indoor facility where we are able to host national championships at.

I agree with you texaggierm really need a top class 800m runner. Also for our sprint medley relays.
Yeah Ariana was recuited by six school icluding A&M and choose Oregon
Sarah Baxter is a distance runner but have decent times in the middle distance.
Oregon would have four good sprinters next year Ariana Washington, Jenna Prandini, Jasmin Todd, Marybeth Sant. They should be decent in hurdles and middle and distance runners as well. I think they are building their teams like their men's team which would have many events to potentially score.

I think we have to find a couple more events where we can score especially if we don't do well in the sprints. We have a great Discus thrower, decent long and triple jumper and hopefully Brea would get her technique right in the hammer. I notice we did not recruit any long/triple jumpers on the women side this year.
If we get get a good middle distance and distance runner who can score would be so good (like Natosha Rogers).
Marcquita Stalbert is a decent recruit. She has not run much this outdoor season.
Ebony Crear didnot run at the California State Championship last week. Not sure why? I was wondering if she is already in Aggie land enrolled and taking summer classes.
We lose a lot of good seniors next year which will be challenge to refill.

I really like our chances next year as well. I would like see Brea, Jena Hemman and Annie Kunz step up and score

Our track & field teams get us more Director Cup points than any other sport.
That is a main reason why we need a new stadium for Coach Henry.
Another reason – he has earned it; he deserves it.

I believe that the indoor facility has definitely been a big draw for recruits.

Latario can probably earn us points in the long jump at SEC meets, but I don't think he can at Nationals. Hope I am wrong.

MidTnAg,

You livin in Murphreesborogh? Isn't that where Middle Tenn State is? Anyhow, I agree, the track team has earned a state of the art facility. National Championships put your school on the map. Baseball isn't buying us anything because of "no good coach". Pat Henry is the best in the business. How come Oregon doesn't come after him for big bucks? Let's keep Coach Henry by building the best stadium and keeping the in-state kids of Texas interested in Texas A&M.

Crear hit a hurdle in 300H during their regionals meet so she didn't qualify in that event. She finished 4th in the 100H - got beat by really good Jrs and a her senior teammate that's going to LSU

Arge, I live close to Murfreesboro where MTSU is located. MTSU is a great school. Fabulous library, student center, and rec center. Occasionally, I go to their library to study. In a few years, I believe their entering students will have stronger academic credentials that any other state school in Tennessee, including that big orange place in Knoxville.

MTSU must have an excellent T&F recruiter. For a school with such a small athletic budget, they have a lot of foreign-born track stars. T&F is probably their strongest sport.

Another interesting fact about MTSU is their men’s basketball coach - Kermit Davis. He is a former BB coach at Aggieland. Remember him?

FWIW...I have heard that Coach Henry wants a much larger and more expensive outdoor facility than what the AD would like to budget....may not really be the hold up, but may be a factor.

Yes, I remember how Kermit Davis cheated and set our program back in MBB.

You do realize TMF is currently raising money for design and land acquisition for the new track facility (they have to relocate the inter mural fields that are currently there). As soon as that is done, they will start raising funds for construction.

In other words, it is in the works. Rather than complaining about what we haven't done in the past, go write a check.
