Coleman is hurt. Doesn't make finals. Barring getting a lot of unexpected points in the field events, A&M men fighting for 3rd place.

Texas may have had their national title hopes crushed with the loss of Spencer. They will lose a few points in the 400 as Nelson will score better than the T&FN formchart but their sprint relay will be crippled by loss of Spencer. My guess is their only hope is for one of the distance runners to really step up or Shanay Briscoe score high in the high jump. Neither scenario is likely. Hall will score in 5K but I don't think she will finish third as predicted.

Oregon women are DOA and hoping to get third or fourth. The only way we don't win women is if we let folks back in the meet. Oregon really misses their sprinter/jumper Todd. She would have kept them in the meet.

Men's side is tougher but we aren't completely out of it. We will have to catch some breaks there but I do believe second is still a real possibility.

Ed, is Spenser out for the rest of the meet? I do not get ESPN3, so I did not see the 400m race. I read that she injured her left leg during the race.
I believe they can still win without her. Sure hope they don’t.

Trini, you were quite today. Any thoughts about the rest of the meet? I believe that the only way we can win is for the teams ahead of us to falter. I do not see how our men can score over 60 points. Let’s hope they do not have to.
It seems improbable that our women might accumulate over 70 points.
Can you believe that our women might score over 65 points and still not finish first? Incredible.

On the women's side I think we still have a good chance. We must however dominate the 200m. We have to get a 1-2 and hope another person get in the 200m finals and score. I saw Desree Bryant did not start in the 100m. If she is injured and does not run the 200m, another Aggie could make the finals and score maybe Ashton Purvis. We must get two of the top three places in the 400m hurdles as well.
The women's 100m finals would be a good race and we need to score as much as possible. I told you look out for Jennifer Madu. She is a big meet runner. Last year she again was an underdog and made the finals and score.

On the men's side I thought our biggest chance was the 400m. I really think our 400m guys are better than their placings. This was our opportunity to score big points and then the injured Coleman is where we loss again. I thought Coleman would have finished in the top 3. I think we still in position for a top three finish if we don't have any further disappointments. Oregon men have so much opportunities to score in the sprints, hurdles, distance.

MdTn,

I actually think the A&M women are the best pick to win the title based on everything that has happened.

The men don't have a chance unless Oregon falters bad since they have so many opportunities to score and our upside potentials are slim hopes for points in field events. I think the men have a good shot of catching Florida for second though.

Spencer got hurt at regionals on a relay carry. She was not running particularly well when she went down at the top of the straight. I don't see any way she can run again this weekend and I would think she is a serious doubt for USATF meet as well. Without her I don't think they can beat anyone in the final unless someone drops the stick. It is a loaded race. The can't risk her on the 4x4 either as they will still have a chance to win with Dowie or Akinosun. Dowie looked poor in her heat of the intermediates. Akinosun looked great yesterday.

I'll update predicted teams scores after the events today, but off memory I think the big events for the women are the 200 and Hept.

The 200 will be a big event for the men as well and Davis will look to qualify in the hurdles.

Both 4x400 relays should easily qualify for finals.

Casey Strong makes the finals in the men's Hammer (9th place). Skipper (4th) for UO and Strawn (7th) for UF also advance.

Shelbi should be up shortly in the discus and Asekun is in the LJ later.

Shelbi fouls her first 2 throws in the discus.

One throw left to make it into finals. Right now she only needs to throw 175 to make the finals for 3 more throws.

Two fouls for Shelbi on first two throws. The best throw so far is 180 feet. She has thrown passed 200 feet already this year.
