I don't know if it was the right way to handle things or not. I wasn't there. I don't know any history that may have contributed one way or another.
I suppose it depends upon what your goal is: Punishment, or rehabilitation.
The truth is, we never really know if things were handled correctly until we see the results of what was done.
What results do we have here:
The perpetrator appears to have remorse and to have not done the same thing again
The victims appear to have been able to get over the issue and move on in a positive way with no long-term repercussions.
Yes, these are only appearances and there may be things that are hidden, but the bottom line is that we are in no place to judge.
I am not in any way defending what he did and I am just reserving judgment on how it was handled.
