Is it really accurate to call someone a child molester if they are also a child?

Not that it makes it right, but not the same thing as an adult doing it. I feel like there some be some differentiation.

Now, the fact that it was children THAT young is pretty ****ed up. If it was a 14 year old doing it to like, a 12 year old, it would be a lot easier to forgive, imo.

In all seriousness though, 14 is old enough to know you shouldn't be trying to finger blast your 8 year old sister. The black kid in Baltimore who got beat by his mom for rioting was 14, I don't recall hearing anyone talk about how he was just a child.

I see your point, but this goes both ways. Whenever you hear about people getting thrown in jail for banging a minor, I always think that a 17 year old is more than old enough to know what they're doing, and it annoys me that it's automatically labeled rape.

A 25 year old teacher banging a 17 year old student' shouldn't get jail time, IMO. Fired? Yes.

Granted, I'm an atheist but I don't think the Bible has suddenly been translated to defend this type of behavior...

I think a lot of people who are defending the child molester are mainly Christians who feel this will reflect badly on them somehow. They feel a need to defend him and thus, are defending their faith. However, I don't think these people Christians. No more than you can call the Westboro Baptist church "Christian". They call themselves Christians, they blurt out random verses that somehow seem legitimate but I don't truly think they follow the guidelines set out in the New Testament. In fact, many do the exact opposite. They hate their neighbor, they preach hatred against people not like themselves and they protect child molesters.

There were a lot of people who made stupid decisions regarding this case. He should have gone to court and been barred from interacting with his victims for the rest of his life. That's what would have happened in most any other situation.

The people in this thread who are defending him and his family; ask yourself, if this family were not Christian, say they had a TV show for being Wiccan and espoused communing with Nature all of the time, would you think they made the right choice? If they said they didn't share your faith, would you be defending them?
