For some reason, the funniest line to me in the entire movie was:

"So I gotta sit here and eat my dessert alone like I'm ****in' Steven Glansberg?"

It just got me for some reason. I couldn't stop laughing.

what were you expecting with the movie? a life changing experience?

it's f'n hilarious for what it is, a flick about a bunch of 16 year old kids trying to get laid for the first time.

Comparing comedies to The Big Lebowski is like comparing paintings to the Mona Lisa... not many are going to come out favorably.

i grinned through most of it and laughed my ass off at several parts. it's probably offensive to some people. not the funniest ever, but it definitely had it's moments.

maybe b/c i'm older, but i liked knocked up more.

I don't think it is an issue of being a "prude" in most cases; everyone here is or has been a relatively normal college student. I just have a problem with people/movies relying on vulgarity to be funny... it is uncreative and gets old pretty quickly, just like any gimmick.

It's in my top 5 for sure.

The entire "virgin high school senior desperately trying to get drunk and laid before going to college" is such a played out concept that even a decent script is hard to make in to a good movie. Superbad has some funny moments but I would hardly say it was good and probably won't have it in my top 50 comedies. I wouldn't say American Pie is that good of a movie but I'd still have it above Superbad.

Lol, you are entitled to your opinion, but I completely disagree with you. Superbad is hands down better than American Pie, and better than most of the comedies that were so big in the 00's. I think the dialogue was pretty groundbreaking for how high school males actually talked to each other.

Comedy in the 00s with great dialogue for me would be Grandma's Boy (2006). Also with Jonah Hill. And with the American Pie talk, Saving Silverman (2001) with Jason Biggs.

My top for the 00's would be

Superbad
Wedding Crashers
Anchorman
The Hangover
Tropic Thunder

I do love Saving Silverman. But I can't say it is better than any of the above. Grandma's Boy is just alright to me.

Superbad is up there but I thought it really fizzled out in the 2nd half. The first half of it was incredible then the 2ns half was just good.

Yeah, it's hard for me, (I didn't have those in a particular order), but I could probably swap either Anchorman or The Hangover for Old School.

A best of the Frat pack thread would be hard to rank.

This is a great list. I would have to find a way to squeeze Step Brothers, Super Troopers, School of Rock, Dodgeball, Meet the Parents, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Old School in there as well.

That's a lot of movies for a top 5, I realize.

Someone start the "best comedy of the oughts" thread since we're done quibbling over whether the Eagles or Aerosmith is the best American rock band.

Superbad and Bad Santa are probably the two movies I've seen that have made me laugh the hardest.

Damn it, great call. 22 Jump Street is hilarious as well, so let's extend the era to 2014, when that came out.

Superbad is great most of the time, but there are moments where I think it drags. 40 Year Old Virgin is the best post 2000 comedy.

I take Step Brothers over 40 Year Old Virgin.

Hardest I can remember laughing in the theater in the past couple decades is the naked wrestling match in Borat. Good Lord...

Superbad had some hilarious lines.

Officer Michaels(Seth Rogan): "Okay everyone, prepare to be ****ed by the long dick of the law. GET OUT".

The Bum: "It's you.........McMuffin".

This scene where they talk about how you shouldn't meet women in bars is great to me.

The scene where he talks about his childhood obsession with drawing dicks was the hardest I laughed when I first saw it.

Just had a visceral dislike for this movie, and some of my favorite movies are teen or beady comedies. But Jonah is a narcissistic jackass in this, and the way they treat women is awful until the last 5 minutes. Just never understood the love for it.
But to each their own.

No. I think my husband hated it more than I did. The only people who think that movie was funny are guys who were losers in high school.

I was not a loser in high school by any means, went to A&M in the fall of 2006, slammed smokin hot babes left and right during my time in College Station, went to law school, came out making six figs and only up from there, got married to an awesome gorgeous girl, have a few kids, and a net worth of several million in my mid 30s /nonhumblebrag

I love Superbad.

My roommates and I watched Superbad in the theater three times during my sophomore year at A&M. For reference, I watched Superbad again last week, and it is still flat out freaking hilarious. Superbad and The Hangover are two of the last great, unfiltered comedies in my opinion. Sarah Marshal and some others around that time frame were ok too. Superbad will always have a special place in my heart.

"It's in. Oh my god it's in."

"S***!!! THE COPS!!!!"

"Yeah, can we get thirteen beers to go please? Thanks."

"I would just sit around all day….and draw pictures of dicks."

"If the guy had come in, punched you in the face, and then ejaculated, we might have had a chance of finding him."

"Why the **** would it be between that or Muhammed!!!!"

I could go on forever. What a great movie.

In high school I never thought about getting girls so liquored up so I could basically rape them. Maybe you were different.
