Sorry, if you don't think Superbad is a comedic masterpiece then you are wrong.

"That'll be $80." Whips out $80 bill.

That whole day dream sequence is absolutely incredible.

There's so many odd lines in this that get me. One of my obscure favorites is when the coach tells Evan to get in the game and he simply looks around and says meekly...

"kick over... to me"

This was definitely one of my top 5 favorite comedies. I can watch it over and over again.

Michael Cera was nails in it.

"Oh evan, I'm so wet..."

I think more than any other movie it so perfectly encapsulates what being a senior in high school is like. Other movies have done high school movies well, but even American Pie's seniors felt like they were in a far more structured/respectful environment than senior year in high school really is.

The above clip where Seth kicks the soccer ball and says he's not going to get it. It's only that small window in life where you are young and no longer really rely/fear the the "adults" at school. In earlier years they can significantly impact your progress/life.. In later years (college) they might still be able to burn post-graduate job opportunity bridge... But that Senior year, weeks from being done with high school forever you are in that glorious spot where you don't really have to do much of what any person (previously) in authority at school tells you. Seth's character nails that.

It wasn't just about being respectful, it's how the women were portrayed. They were basically caricatures. You went from the period bleeder to the "I'm so wet" girl etc, They aren't given any depth, there isn't a single scene I don't think of them without the guys in it. To use the American Pie comparison, most of the women were treated as actual characters and had some power and the boys were largely mocked sexually too, even if it was a movie for young males. And AP is a movie I really enjoy.
But again, to each their own, it's just not for me.

Isn't your opinion of this specific type of comedy pretty much going to come down to your age? Superbad isn't in my top 5 of these lists of 00s, maybe not even near the top at all, but I did like it and think it was very funny. I'm just not all that interested in rewatching it really.

I kinda prefer Not Another Teen Movie from the 00s, honestly, but really only because its making fun of teenage comedies that I prefer from the late 90s because I'm that age.
I'm 51 and love just about all of the listed movies.

I agree that's how they are portrayed for the majority of the movie, but the entire point of the movie is both of them realizing that there is more to women than just just getting them drunk to hook up with them. The last 10 minutes in particular is them realizing that part of growing up is them sacrificing their boy club mentality in order to form connections with the women they are into.

My top for the 00's would be

Superbad
Wedding Crashers
Anchorman
The Hangover
Tropic Thunder

I do love Saving Silverman. But I can't say it is better than any of the above. Grandma's Boy is just alright to me.
Old School should be in there somewhere.
And 40 Year Old Virgin.
