It's been a while since I've taken genetics, but are we supposed to believe that there is a chance that Geoffry is the offspring of the queen and her brother, and now he's in line for the throne? Might explain why he's so goofy looking, anyway.

props to poodoo for posting this back on page 4..

I'm guessing the little Prince is the result of a sister/brother conception.

Kids eyes are so far apart when he cried the tears ran down his back.

i considered the idea after reading that post cause that kid does look messed up, but im pretty sure they just confirmed it with the last episode. Now the question is, does the king know (im guessing no)?

This is supported by her apparent inability to be burned. She looked like a mother bird placing the egg in a nest of fire when she put the egg in the flames. I'm guessing we are going to have some dragons wielded by Dani sometime in the future to help get the Doth Raki across the sea after all the talk about how they won't sail. Maybe the Doth Raki will fly?

Well except that the eggs are petrified/stone.

Could a regular cook fire get that hot? I mean they were making soup on it just prior, and who wants to get 2,000*F soup?

Yes, it would appear so.

You have to grant a bit of dramatic license there, as with the time shortening. A relatively small fire can get that hot, although it takes effort.

If anyone wants to play the "could that really happen" game, they might as well quit watching.

That must suck for the actor playing Joffrey that everyone assumes he's inbred in the show because how weird he looks.

For you people saying you don't have HBOGO....how is that? If you've got HBO, then you've got HBOGO....am I right?

Posted this on the spoiler thread as well:

Some day, maybe, some student of fantasy literature may want to peruse all of these partial manuscripts, and document how A DANCE WITH DRAGONS changed over the years. Every time I printed out a copy to send to my editors, I made a second and sent it to the Special Collections at Texas A&M University, where my papers are kept. Maybe someone will get a master's thesis out of my struggles with this book. And who knows, maybe in the end he or she will conclude that I was making the book worse and worse all along.

Huh. That explains a question I had during one of Evan's sci-fi/fantasy series things. They had one of Martin's original manuscripts of Game of Thrones and that took me completely by surprise. Didn't expect to see that there.

Any ideas why he chose A&M?

Perhaps because we write pages and pages of fantasy every year in the leadup to football season

Why is everyone talking about having to wait two weeks? Are they not letting us watch each episode early for the rest of the season?

if they are, they haven't announced it...i'm pretty sure they did it just this once to promote HBO-GO more than the show itself

from here on out, the schedule is ep. 7 this weekend, 8 the next, etc.

PooDoo, it was a one week deal to promote HBOGO and avoid showing it on Memorial Day weekend which in the past has typically been reruns.

Surprised at the lack of discussion about the latest episode. I know alot of the viewers have read the books, but for us that haven't, there were alot of questions coming out of this one. Was that Benjen's hand? Is Littlefinger that big of a *****? The backfiring of the poisoning attempt....it seemed as if Mormont "knew" that there was poison in the wine.

I'm totally hooked on this show. Even the wife started watching it.

You know what you know about the hand. Its a cliffhanger.

RE: The wine. In an earlier episode its revealed that Mormont is the Council's (ie Varys') spy on the two exiled Targaryens. In this episode we find that Varys has already sent the orders to kill her, Mormont receives his royal pardon and a letter from Varys, and then he goes back and stops her from getting poisoned. I think you have all you need to know to cobnnect whatever dots you like. The motives of everyone concerend are all a bit of a mystery (except Robert really).

No background info, no spoilers:

1. For now, it's just a hand.
2. Yes, he is.
3. Mormont is very perceptive and noticed that the vendor acted differently once he had determined that he was speaking to his target. Grabbing a special batch of wine just for her sealed the deal for his suspicions.

Ah yes... I forgot about them showing the pardon in the episode. Wasn't sure if that's how it should be explained here, but you're correct in that they did show that part. Nice catch.

DISCLAIMER: The following is my opinion based on watching and reading and is in no way spoiler info from the books and just goes on what we know from what's seen on the show.

IMO, I think Mormont knew that there would be an attempt or multiple attempts on her life, but he suspected the wineseller based on how he acted and because he excpected "someone" to try.

For now, it's just a hand.

For me, someone who hasn't read the books, it wasn't just a hand. I can see why this is going to be a delicate matter. This isn't like Lost, where everyone was in the dark between episodes. While I do appreciate the background info, my questions were more of an attempt to generate speculative discussion. That's going to be difficult to do with this show being based on the books.

Yes, the whole poisoning scene was intriguing to me. Just curious how it relates to the bigger plot (I'm not wanting an answer....just thinking out loud). To me, it seems that Mormont wanted the poisoning attempt to be made, but that he would stop it in time, resulting in Drogo to get bat-piss angry to decide to ride the wooden horses. Would Drogo still want to cross over on wooden horses if Daenerys was killed? Other than the Targaryen, who would be plotting to get the Dothraki to invade? This is great stuff.

Sorry... I misread your post the first time while skimming and assumed you wanted answers without too much book info (your post doesn't say that at all but I incorrectly made the assumption based on several pages of similar posts from others).

My bad... If you're just thinking out loud and generating discussion among the non-readers, I'll refrain. But it should be noted that my answer would still stand in that right now, it's just a hand. What I meant was essentially what you said anyway. It's obviously not "just a hand", and the viewer is left to wonder for now. It's one example of the essential beauty of the story in general, whether in book form or on tv. He's a master of the mini-cliffhangers.
