What does merge with the MCU mean, exactly? Each company gets to be in and use characters from the other? Why is that bad for everyone else?
I think he's basically just saying that this iteration of Spider-Man/Peter Parker - who has
only appeared in MCU movies so far, even though he's a Sony property - will finally start interacting with the rest of the Sony Spider-Universe. Meaning Venom, Morbius, Kraven, Madame Web, etc can appear in Spider-Man 4. And if there also happens to be a Doctor Strange or whoever else - any other MCU characters - in Spider-Man 4, those MCU characters will also obviously interact with the Sony Spider-Universe characters now as well, in this movie.
And that's "bad" only because the Sony stuff is considered to be so much worse, quality-wise, than the MCU stuff (even as of late). It can basically be seen as bringing the MCU down to Sony's level, but hopefully Feige & co still have a level of influence/quality control.
