I truly admire the way Gilligan shows you the duality of each character. He doesn't try to create the Disney heroes and villains where you only see the good of some characters and the bad of others. The good moral characters have flaws and issues. The criminals have endearing qualities and sometimes do good things. Hamlin was at first seen as a pure villain but you can see he is not all bad, no matter how big a ****** move taking that cake was.

If we are talking about Chuck, he clearly has something majorly wrong with him and was never mentioned in breaking bad. It's not a stretch to assume he dies.

Just because he wasnt mentioned doesnt mean that he didnt exsist.
I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I think it would be interesting if we find out that Chuck was around throughout the entire BB run...we just never saw him. The reality is that we never saw anything at all about Saul's personal life during BB. He still could have been living with Chuck and consulting with him every single night for all we know.

I don't see it playing out like, but anything is possible.

You nailed it. Excellent post.

Also, I predict Chuck ends up in the nut house eventually. Without Jimmy, he slips deeper into paranoia.

Those last five minutes were some of the toughest and best minutes I've seen on television in a while.

The tone in Odenkirk's voice changing so frequently in mid-sentence was just so emotional. He damn well better get an Emmy nomination for this. And Chuck's response to him was such a kick in the gut to watch.

And that was Trevor from GTA V in the parking garage. Hell, the actor even looked like Trevor (sans the beard I always kept on him).

Last week on the podcast they had the guy that plays Hamlin. He was talking about how none of the characters fit a stereotype. They are realistic that they just arent a dbag, etc.

I know Bob can act, but was marveled by Lenny's performance.

I think you guys are spot on about the duality theme, especially since Mike spelled it out on screen. Chuck isn't a criminal, but he's an underhanded jerk who doesn't respect his family. Slippin' Jimmy is a criminal, but he takes care of his brother and his friends. Jimmy is about to have to make the same decision Price did - is he going to continue being a criminal.

I did not watch Breaking Bad, so I never saw Odenkirk on that. To me, every time I see him I can't help but be reminded of him on the brilliantly funny "Mr. Show with Bob and David", so these dramatic turns are not what I expect from him.

Indeed. But I definitely see the correlation. Pryce didn't see himself as a criminal, or at least he didn't see himself as a "bad guy". Likewise, Walt (at least at first) thought he was doing bad things for all the best reasons.

Mike despises that kind of rationalization. Like he explains to Pryce, it doesn't matter if you're a good guy. Once you break the law your a criminal. And like he explains to Walt, you can't put just one foot in the water. there's no room for Half-Measures. \

So genius.

Thats fair. What I meant was Mike sees Walt as he saw Pryce - just a dude, not a criminal mastermind. To Mikes credit, had he met WW in S1E1 then he would have seen someone very similar to Pryce.

I can only imagine how much fun it is to play someone like Mike.

I'm sure this came up on a Breaking Bad thread, but Bob Odenkirk was in Seinfeld(of course Cranston was, too). Bob played the guy who wasn't yet a doctor, then when he became one, promptly dumped Elaine.

Yes, and on Mr. Show, but Seinfeld trumps all. The amount of future lead actors that were guest stars is incredible.
