Criminal bodies are cheap/free. Cloned/home made bodies are much more expensive so only the very wealthy (the Meths) can afford them.

At least through ep 3 that is how I understand it.

Finished 3 episodes, and while not the greatest or most original show I've ever seen it's entertaining and still better than most of the stuff you see on t.v.

I'm four episodes in and I'll probably stay with it. The one thing that may eventually have me quit is Ortega's character. Her over the top cussing and hair trigger rage is just too much sometimes. On top of that, her Spanish is terrible.

She is Mexican.
Maybe you're just used to more spanglish?

I don't know.

Agreed.
There are some nice ones in this show.

I will say this first time me they showed the main guy I turned to my wife and said "wow, he's ripped!"

I don't mind it. We watch and joke "it's not porn, it's netflix".
I'm far from a prude and don't mind seeing naked bodies. Nakedness doesn't bother me.
I just think they seem to be cramming nudity into shows just for the purpose of showing boobs and butts that doesn't particularly further the story. Maybe they want to be "edgy"?
I can see people being turned off the show because of all the nudity.
I think a lot of the time they do this either in season 1 of a show or when the show is dying. Back when I was watching Narcos Season 1, it seemed like every episode was crammed with pretty hardcore sex scenes (for Netflix at least)...my wife was convinced I was watching porn as shed walk through the living room when I was binging season 1 and almost regularly there would be sex and nudity and moaning in the background. Once it became apparent that the show was a hit, they scaled it back quite a bit for season 2 and 3.

Although now I am wondering maybe nothing changed throughout the course of the show and I just somehow became desensitized to it all?

This been a pretty enjoyable show so far, even if the first episode is as confusing as hell.

This show has me hooked.

The fight in the elevator in episode 6? was pretty awesome, along with the battle in the Fight Drome.

I'm excited to see what the final few episodes have in store.

I really liked it. I've always said that people are harder on sci-fi for some reason. Like nobody cares that they are jumping cars through buildings in FF, or that most action movies are essentially the same storyline every time, yet you have a couple inconsistencies in a sci-fi universe or it reuses existing sci-fi tropes and people declare it a failure. I'm not singling TCTTS out by any means, as he is entitled to his opinion, but his review is a pretty good example.

This is a pretty good Agatha Christie style mystery blended into a cop show set in the future. The dialogue does get cheesy at times, and I wasn't particularly fond of the sister as an actress, but I think it's one of the better first seasons of a Netflix show. I loved Edgar Allen Poe. I give it a B+. I'm excited to see where it goes. It did feel like they set up the potential for a couple extra seasons with his origin story.

Again, the cop is super hot.

This is helpful, thanks! Is it like a futuristic "crime of the week" type show?

No, think more like a detective noir feel. One case to start, with different events happening that are slowly being revealed to be connected throughout the story.

Just finished this the other day. I really enjoyed it for the gritty, noir, bare breasted, science fiction show that it is. I didn't read the book, and found the characters interesting.

I also like the world it developed, as we have had many sci-fi shows that have faster than light capabilities. The human race not having that in this show, but being dependent on transferring a consciousness into another body. It's somewhat refreshing imo.

I just finished the show. I thought it really picked up on the back half of the season with better character development and finally getting into revealing the mystery.

I understand other's thoughts that it's confusing at first and a little bit of a rehash of some common sci-fi concepts; however, I thought the payoff was great. Really enjoyed it overall. I will agree there is some suspect acting that left some to be desired in my opinion, but it didn't keep me from thoroughly enjoying it.

The actress who plays his sister isn't good. I've seen her before and never thought she was bad, but it was only in limited roles. She should stick to those.

I lasted maybe 30 minutes before I turned the pilot off and this basic conceit is one of the reasons why. The timeline 250 years ago was already super advanced in terms of technology. And then it felt like the world 250 years later wasn't really all that more advanced. Not to sound like Comic Book Guy or Neil deGrasse Tyson, but it really bugs when shows/movies like this don't take into consideration the exponential advancement of technology/humanity in general. The world 200 years from now is going to be unrecognizable to us, and the world 200 years after that is going to be unrecognizable to people 200 from now. Technology/humanity is going to advance at such an increasingly rapid rate. And I get that there's no show at all if there aren't familiar human characters we can understand and relate to, but the whole conceit is just kind of dumb to me anyway. The thing about a seven year old girl getting the body of the old woman because "that's all there was" was stupid. I get how that can come across as a clever/horrifying conceit or whatever, but the economics/practicality of it just didn't make sense. Not to mention, most of the production design felt like a rip off of things we've seen a thousand times before, and I wasn't into the main character at all. So sick of the hardened/disgruntled tough guy making quip upon quip while navigating a future world. Let's see a different type of future character for once.

I'm glad I hadn't seen this before starting the season. Very entertaining show!

Finished the show about an hour ago. I liked it. I agree that the sister isn't a strong actor. She was on a season of Agents of Shield and was hard to watch then.

Just imagining a world in which your best friend or fiance could at any moment be on a totally different body is unnerving to me.

I wonder if they'll do more backstory on Quell, but I'm really interested what they do with Tak. Do they keep the lead actor around to play Ryker only? Will it be weird to viewers when he's on screen and nothing like Tak? I mean, Tak was in 3 bodies in this session, so I guess it's not a big deal, but gives some interesting dilemma if he ever goes back to visit Ortega. Which might not ever happen.

I like Dichen (the sister/Rei) but I'm biased because I liked Dollhouse.

I am probably going to rewatch the season once I finish it. I feel like I'm gonna catch a lot more once I see it again.

I adore Poe. I'm about to start ep 9.

So many boobs.

It feels like a combination of blade runner and demolition man. I like it.

Once again, my favorite character always dies.

I've watched like an episode and a half and its doing nothing for me. I'll give it some more burn, but while there have been some cool parts, as a whole I'm not into the world or the story enough to be hooked on either front yet. Honestly, its probably because the acting and characters feel extremely cliche and disposable for me attm.

There wasn't anything openly bad about the show to me, and nothing stood out as amazing or moving to me. I will say that it ended stronger than it started and does wrap itself up very well for things that might seem confusing towards the beginning.

It was missing some emotional depth for me and a lot of the action/fighting fell flat on me as well.

Think I would go B- overall. Story I think carried this while perhaps acting or lines held it back a bit. Something I can't quite place my finger on.

P.S. I think one of the better actors was actually the guy who was the A.I. of the hotel strangely enough lol.

episode 4 was fun to think about from a theology standpoint.

Christians would definitely have a problem with this whole concept.
