Man the Texags reviews for this show are all over the map! Usually this place is pretty dependable, but I'm still not sure if I should watch or not.
I really liked it. I've always said that people are harder on sci-fi for some reason. Like nobody cares that they are jumping cars through buildings in FF, or that most action movies are essentially the same storyline every time, yet you have a couple inconsistencies in a sci-fi universe or it reuses existing sci-fi tropes and people declare it a failure. I'm not singling TCTTS out by any means, as he is entitled to his opinion, but his review is a pretty good example.
This is a pretty good Agatha Christie style mystery blended into a cop show set in the future. The dialogue does get cheesy at times, and I wasn't particularly fond of the sister as an actress, but I think it's one of the better first seasons of a Netflix show. I loved Edgar Allen Poe. I give it a B+. I'm excited to see where it goes. It did feel like they set up the potential for a couple extra seasons with his origin story.
Again, the cop is super hot.
