Looks like I'm finally seeing this Friday, but with my five-year-old nephews. Will they even understand the plot? Is this far more complicated than your typical Disney/Pixar animated movie or will they "get" it?

I think they'll get most of it

They may enjoy it but I doubt a five year old will be able to follow the plot. I don't know that a five year old can comprehend the concept of multiple dimensions. My 13 year old loved it.

Again not saying they won't like it but I doubt they understand it. With kids that age there's a chance they get bored and want to leave so you never know.

I'm guessing you like it though.

Much appreciated. I might audible and take them to something else. Definitely seeing it for myself soon, though.

I think they'd be entertained continually, even if they couldn't follow everything.

Yeah, this felt like a Disney or Pixar movie to me, where there are obviously some jokes aimed at the older crowd, but it's still fun for the kids who don't get the references.

Hell I loved Attack of the clones as a 12 year old, because even though the first two hours were terrible, and I didn't care about any of the political plot stuff or love story, the last 30 minutes had lightsabers and yoda doing flips.

The bar for a child's entertainment is extremely low.

Kids will love it. The colors and animation will have them captivated. And there are plenty of sight gags.

14 year old me was very captivated by Natalie Portman's ass and pushup boobs.

This was a really good movie. It by far deserves best animation over incredibles 2. It has a better story, more emotion, more humor, and a very crazy/unique/stunning animation style. This was better than most of the MCU films to date, and whereas Black Panther May have received elevated reviews due to the circumstances, I think Miles Morales is a better character and better movie at this point. It deserves the reviews.

Side note: it had the worst set of trailers I've ever seen Before a movie lol

I haven't read comics in a while and don't remember him well but I was glad to see the prowler used.

Good movie. Maybe the best comic book movie. I hope to see more from Miles & Spider Gwen in the future.

Awesome movie. Animation was great and I really enjoyed the multiverse take on the story. Was really cool seeing all the spider suits from the new game as well.

Loved the movie. One of my favorites of all year. The animation was excellent and it has perfect amount of humor and heart. My only complaint was with Miles's powers and it's not really related to the movie. Im not too familiar with his character from the comics but I feel like he's too powerful. It seems like he has all the powers of Spiderman and then also invisibility and electricity punches.

Can't wait for the sequel and I hope it includes some other spider people again. Chris Pine's Christmas songs were hilarious. And the Prowler was really cool.

It kind of seems like he can't shoot web without the wrist brace canisters though, but that has always been weird with Spider-Man. Naturally shooting web versus needing some kind of device.

I think it is kind of cool concept that not every Spider-Man is the exact same. Shoot the MCU has basically introduced an iron man Spider-Man hybrid at this point.

I thought the natural web shooting was only made up for the Tobey McGuire movies. I think Spiderman has always used the web shooters he invented.

Well they did imply this universe is very similar to the Toby universe with the spiderman 2 cafe scene and the snipe at the spiderman 3 dance scene, except Parker did have blonde hair so I'm not really sure.

They originally went with mechanical web shooters because a teenage boy thwipting fluid all over the city was a little too... organic.

Just got out with my sons...an incredibly cool and unique movie. It was awesome.

Freaking props to Sony!

Finally saw it. Loved it, as did the nephews. Seeing the animation on the big screen is night and day compared to watching the trailer on a computer monitor, which already looked awesome in its own right. But man, there's a three dimensional quality, and a level of detail, that you HAVE to see in the theater. I don't know how this movie exists - it seems like a minor miracle that Sony greenlit it in the first place - but I'm so glad they did. Definitely one of those movies I'll buy on 4K Blu-ray and just have it on in the background. Can't wait to watch it again.

Glad you liked it. It's hard to explain how special it feels till you really get into that world.

And speaking of, curious if anyone has seen it in 3D? My animator friend that worked on it said he'd heard some shots looked really cool in 3D but hasn't watched himself.

I've never seen a movie in 3D and never really been interested in doing so either.

But as I was watching spiderverse, I thought "I bet this would be cool in 3D"

Just got out. That was the best Spider-Man movie ever made and one of the three best comic book movies of all-time. Possibly the best animation of any animated movie I've ever watched.

How good is the 3D? Need some motivation to make me do it. The only theater that has it is 30 min vs. 5 min and I never go to 3D movies.

I should have read the comments above more closely. I saw great, and my wife and I were going to the movies, so we went. Didn't realize it was a cartoon.

I saw it today. Admittedly I was skeptical, but this was very good and glad I saw it in the theater. My 10 yo son said it's the best movie he's ever seen.
