Yes I feel Adora may be the killer. So mentally off. And she is so chummy with the sheriff it makes you feel like something is not right there.

She certainly does seem to be inserting herself into the case.

Lots of weirdness tonight. After the episode the director said Calhoun Day wasn't in the book. I wonder if Amma is actually Camille's child by a rapist maybe? Or if Camille isn't actually Adora's child? Adora said something to Camille about never loving her because of her father, perhaps Camille is Adora's child by a rapist? I feel like either Camille or Amma is the product of assault, just a gut feeling I have. And if that's the case I could see where so much of the distance between Camille and Adora comes from.

Amma running off seemed super weird, but she was taking acid before the play.

That's a decent theory. I mean they do talk about a tradition where the football team "takes a lucky cheerleader out into the woods."

She was also chummy with at least one of the girls.

The little scamp with the gun saw a lady in white take a girl in the woods.

Think the mom killed one and the cheerleader killed the other?

My theory is that it's really the doing of some sort of secret society of all these old money folks in town. Very Bohemian Grove, child sacrifice and what not. The sheriff and the parents are definitely in on it and the little sister recruits the victims.

I'm sticking with this. We find out at Calhoun days that the entire town was founded on this narrative of the rape and murder of an underage girl. Hell they had a play about it in front of everyone.

I am definitely starting to consider more than one killer or an accomplice.

No doubt that Camille self injures, as we have seen it, but does anyone feel like some places on her body look like it would be awfully difficult to inflict on herself? From the very first episode when she stepped into the tub and she had words on her back. Yes we can all reach and touch our back but words?

This episode was mind numbing. I really don't want to finish the series but I almost feel obligated after putting in five hours so far. The amount that hasn't happened and that we haven't learned during that time is astonishing. Only three episodes left...

The drinking... My God all the drinking!

Just watching Camille fill a water bottle w vodka and drink it all day, everyday, makes me nauseous.

I really liked that episode for some reason. Gave us some good character development on multiple folks and got the whole town back together.

I don't think it's Adora. I still also think the piano player/ old fling/ guy in bar who didn't ogle Camille is going to be a central character in saving her when she stumbles across the truth.

I think they're teasing the past that he knows he's a part of and did wrong the last time (when she suffered) but he's going to do right this time.

Still have no opinion on who the killer(s) are. Easy guess now that he's being forced into the background is the step dad.

I think she was chummy w the Sherriff bc they used to be a thing. Jackie said on the porch something about those women liking their law enforcement officers, when she saw Camille go to the KC detective.

I'm going to finish this show off because I'm not a quitter, but this show sucks. 5 episodes of the same s**t over and over. Everyone shifty eyed, acting weird and suspicious. Lots of drinking and flashbacks.

This won't go down as a good or even notable HBO series. It's going to be one of those series where someone recommends it to one of their coworkers and the coworker comes back and says "WTF did you have me watch?"

Yeah this was the first episode where at the end my initial reaction was "okay, whatever."

Like did we learn anything new in this episode at all other than the history of Calhoun Day and how old her flooring is?

I think we basically learned that gang rape and pedophilia have been apart of the town since the beginning.

maybe it's all a conspiracy amongst the old guard to kill off nonconforming kids, those that are different, tomboys, lesbians, etc.

maybe the game rape and torture was designed to drive kids to suicide, like Cameille, but some leave town

I don't know if I would be as strong as you, but so far, I'm really disappointed, too. I like weird quirky shows but this has been way too meandering for me.

A-freakin-men! My wife read the book and wanted to watch this so dragged me along. We're both struggling to finish this off but will. This may have been stated before but she's mentioned several times they're doing things that weren't in the book, which isn't unusual I know, but really annoys her.

And I think it's either the step-dad or one of the guys from her past, like the drama teacher Mr Lacy.

I've got episode 5 on the DVR, but have not watched and think I'm out. We'll see if I get extremely bored sometime this week.

Same problem I have had all along, her family is just completely unrealistic.
I love Patricia Clarkson, but she is just not at all good in this role. Nothing about her character is even remotely relatable or even makes sense on any level. The step dad is just bizarre and the sister never seems to have emotion in any direction, outside of her outburst this week.
Shame too, because the rest of it is fairly solid, though it is becoming clear it should have been condensed down a lot.
Will tough it out, but dissapointed for sure.

Patricia Clarkson should be good in this role though. She's great at playing the role of an ice queen. She her as Tammy #1 in Parks and Rec.

What the **** did I just watch? An hour of no plot development and a town throwing a party based on a rape play. The creepiness and confusion was kinda nterestng for a couple of episodes. But it's gone on way too long. This show officially sucks.

Unfortunately I'll habe to keep watching bc my wife apparently has terrible taste and kinda enjoys it.

I understand the complaints but I've still really enjoyed the weirdness, moodiness, music and overall surreal feel to it. It's definitely not what I would call a "must-see" kind of show at this point. But I'm super intrigued to see how the hell they're gonna tie this all up.

And if they don't, still not sure I won't be okay with it.

That was Fargo season 2. Texags absolutely masturbates and jizzes all over itself for that show. Yes. Aliens were a plot point for Fargo Season 2.

But I'm being told this show sucks. I guess I'll just ignore since I'm actually enjoying the character development and suspense.

What character development and what suspense? I love a slow burn type show but it literally seems like there has been no suspense at all. What suspense are you referring to? And I don't really know any more about the characters now then I did after episode one or two.

I wonder if this show might be better once it's over and you could watch several episodes back to back and finish the whole thing in a week instead of watching this over a couple of months?

I think whether you're binging it or watching week to week it really comes down to the final few episodes. Is whatever is going to happen going to call back to some of the small details from this seemingly pointless scenes? If so, then maybe those scenes seem worth it at the end.

Like right now it doesn't seem like we're learning anything new, but maybe we are?

But I think the fact that it seems like nothing is really happening would be even more annoying if you were binging the show.

The only way I could binge on this show is if I was completely stoned, can't find the remote or the energy to look for it, and Netflix just keeps auto-starting the next episode.

And this is not "hive" mentality. I tried to give this show a shot, was down with the eerie vibe and weird characters for a bit, but at some point, you actually have to take the thing somewhere. Do something interesting. Posters on this thread just hit the "wtf, this is just more of the same" breaking point and patience is finally wearing out. Which naturally happens after watching 4-5 episodes of something where the characters only seem to get less realistic and believable, while at the same time the plot doesn't really go anywhere.

What it boils down to for me is that virtually none of these characters seem like real people or have real, realistic interactions with each other, all while taking part in a plot that doesn't ever advance.
